We'll be working hard on intake exams and treatments for all these guys later this week. If you're able to help, either donate to the sanctuary directly or call us and request to make a donation towards the Spirit Keeper snake intake.

Help me spread the word about Spirit Keeper Equine Sanctuary. Together we can make a difference.

Feeding your ferret kibble that is "High in Protein" is usually a good thing. But, please make sure it is meat protein and not plant protein, such as pea protein. Always check the ingredients listed on the package, as kibble ingredients can change, even when the package looks the same.

6 year old Mocha and 7 yr old Penelope came to Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption, recently. Both were taken to Critter Care Animal Hospital for wellness checks. Dr. Liza discovered that Mocha had bladder stones. Mocha had surgery, yesterday, to remove the bladder stones. She's doing much better, today!

Bladder stones in ferrets can be caused by pea protein, genetics, UTI, or dehydration. We don't know what caused Mocha's bladder stones. Photo below is post-surgery of Mocha and her bladder stones . Mocha and Penelope, a bonded pair, will soon be ready for adoption!!

If you would like to donate towards the cost of Mocha's surgery, please donate through our website or through Facebook. https://www.ferretdreams.org/help-us-help-ferrets

Good tips to keep your birds safe!

Our partners at Boulder County Public Health detected Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in a wild goose near a chicken run in Louisville. While the risk to humans is low, precautions are essential to protect yourself, your pets, and your birds.
Precautions You Can Take:
• Raw milk: Avoid unpasteurized milk.
• Cooking: Properly cook poultry and eggs to 165˚F.
• Bird owners: Protect your flock by keeping wild birds away, securing food and water, and monitoring for signs of illness (e.g., sudden death, nasal discharge or swelling). Report symptoms to the State Veterinarian at 303-869-9130.
• Wild birds: Avoid contact with sick or dead birds and report them to animal control. If found on private property, wear protective gear such as gloves and a mask when handling carcasses. Safely dispose of them by double-bagging the carcass and placing it in the municipal trash.

Tonight's the night of Ferret Dreams Rescue and Adoption's BIG fundraiser! We have a few reminders for you.

1. Location: This is very important, as there are 2 Embassy Suites in the Tech Center area. Our fundraiser will be held at Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Tech Center North. 7525 E. Hampden Ave. Denver, CO.

2. BYOD! Bring your own device to use for bidding. Make sure your device is fully charged. We'll provide the WiFi. No paper bid sheets, this year. Ferrets have gone hi-tech!

3. Don't be late! The Silent Auction will end at 7pm.

4. Last, but of utmost importance, don't drink and drive. Embassy Suites suggests you "Take the elevator home!". They will be offering a limited number of discounted rooms for a good night's sleep. So, bring along your jammies, enjoy the drinks, spend the night at Embassy Suites and drive home sober on Sunday.

Thank you to everyone for supporting Ferret Dreams Rescue and Adoption, year round, but especially this evening! We'll see you at 5pm! 👋
