As we continue adapting to changes brought by Avery's law, we want to share an important update with our community.

The Animal Resource Center no longer has legal authority to seize or impound dogs due to suspected abandonment, cruelty or neglect. Under Ohio law, those cases now fall under the authority of local law enforcement agencies and humane societies.

We understand these changes may be difficult and frustrating to navigate, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as all of us continue adapting.

If you witness or suspect a dog is being abandoned, neglected or treated cruelly, please report it directly to local law enforcement or your local humane society so it can be investigated by those with the legal authority to enforce these laws. Any concerns reported to the Animal Resource Center will be referred to the appropriate agencies.
