Meet Chris 💙

Chris came to us from a community cat colony and was originally trapped with TNR in mind. It took almost no time at all to realize he had other plans—this boy is pure love. Purrs, head butts, and a constant desire to be close to people.

When we do TNR work, we make it a priority not to return friendly cats to the streets. If a cat shows us they trust humans, we believe they deserve the chance to experience a safe, loving indoor life. That was exactly what we hoped for for Chris.

We quickly got him in for neuter, vaccines, and routine testing. Sadly, Chris tested positive for feline leukemia (FeLV). While many FeLV+ cats can live good lives, this diagnosis makes finding a traditional home much more difficult, as he would need to be the only cat in the home or live with another FeLV+ cat.

As a foster-based rescue, we don’t currently have the resources to safely house him long-term while waiting for that perfect match. After a lot of careful consideration (and heavy hearts), we’ve arranged for Chris to be placed at Rustic Hollow.

Rustic Hollow is an incredible resource for rescues like ours. They come highly recommended, have excellent references, and are known for truly providing loving sanctuary to cats who need a safe place to land—especially those with medical considerations like FeLV. They prioritize quality of life, enrichment, and love, and knowing Chris will be cared for there brings us peace in an otherwise heartbreaking situation.

His placement comes with a $50 monthly care cost, and we want to be very clear: we are not looking for one large donation. Any amount—$5, $10, $20—helps us get him there and keep him cared for, and every bit truly matters.

Chris is the kind of cat who just wants to curl up in a lap and be loved, and it makes us so sad that he won’t have a home of his own right now. But with your help, he will be safe, comfortable, and deeply cared for.

🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈 UPDATE: Tonight (Monday 8/18/25) we successfully trapped the FIVE older kittens! Early tomorrow morning they will arrive at their spay/neuter/vaccinations appointment because of all your generosity! I will get some pictures tomorrow! I’m happy to report that Dallas, Oscar and Precious are among them!

🙀 UPDATE: You guys, thank you! As of Sunday morning, WE HIT OUR GOAL! You all got us to $1,050 which also allows us to fix the newly discovred black cat that appeared Saturday morning. Thank you so much! Tomorrow is trapping day so I will post an update Monday evening!

⚡️UPDATE: as of Saturday morning we’ve raised $660. From the bottom of our cat loving hearts, thank you! It means the world to us to have the support of our friends and community. We will continue to post updates and more pictures!

We’ve got 7 community cats (only four made themselves availabe for this photo shoot) who have RSVP’d (without asking) to our spay/neuter party this Tuesday. 💌 The cost is about $125 per cat, and we need to raise the funds fast before these cats RSVP their own kittens.

Here’s the deal:
🐾 Sponsor a cat in full and you get naming rights — we’ll call them whatever you want (within reason… but yes, “Chairman Meow” is on the table).
🐾 Partial sponsorships are welcome too — it all adds up!

Why it matters:
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) keeps community cats healthy, prevents more kittens from being born on the streets, and stops the endless cycle of “surprise litters.”

📅 Appointments are THIS Tuesday — if we don’t fix them now, the kitten factory keeps running.

They aren’t just stuffed animals.
They aren’t just dogs.

They are Battle Pups.

And we pray that each one will meet their warriors and bring them hope and the powerful message that no matter what they are facing, they don’t have to battle alone.

Thank you to everyone for helping us get connected. It truly is incredible to see so many reaching out. Especially those from Western North Carolina who witnessed first hand the healing power of our Battle Pups in their own children and are now looking for ways to help those facing the same devastating circumstances in Texas and beyond.

We are currently in conversations with those on the frontlines on how best to help this immediate need, but we know from our work with hurricane Helene, the greatest asks and reach will be once school starts.

So we are working to prepare what we need in anticipation for what is ahead.

We currently have around 4,000 Battle Pups in stock, but need to raise some big funds to be able to support Texas and so many of the surrounding areas.

If you have $10 to spare we would be so grateful if you would be willing to help fund a Battle Pup for us to get into the hands of those who have lost so much.

We have created a specific fundraising page with an effort to provide 10,000 Battle Pups at a minimum to our friends in the south.

We are anticipating the need will be much more, but 10,000 is where we felt like we should start.
