The Dog Alliance offers free service dogs for Texas veterans, public dog training classes for sport, pet, therapy, and service dogs, and therapy dogs in a wide variety of locations, including schools, nursing homes, libraries, and hospitals. Our public dog training includes puppy classes, dog manners, agility, tricks classes, rally, nosework, private lessons, and so much more!

🐾 Therapy Dogs Take on the Tech World! 🐾
Yesterday, three of our Complex Therapy Dogs—Rufus, Sky, and Ruby (our newest team member!)—joined more than 1,600 attendees at the sold-out 10th Annual Data Center Anti Conference (DCAC) in Austin, TX! We are grateful to Armstrong World Industries (Armstrong Ceiling Solutions) for inviting us...and supporting our training programs with their generous donation!

These chill pups were the stars of the show, offering hugs, ear rubs, and tail wags to conference-goers in need of a wellness break. 💼💙 From booth visits to hallway hangouts, our volunteer handler-dog teams brought calm and connection to a high-energy crowd.

As part of National Service Dog Month, we’re introducing Cypress, a nearly 6-month-old Black Labrador puppy in training to become a service dog. His Puppy Raiser, Sheryl, began her volunteer journey as a part-time Foster and then raised one service dog in-training. 🐾

When Cypress joined the household at 4 months old, he met Floki—a 4-year-old Bergamasco Sheepdog known for intelligence, loyalty, and a strong sense of territory. The introduction was slow and intentional, ensuring Floki felt safe and respected.

Creating a successful service dog begins with a supportive home environment. Cypress’s journey is shaped not only by training but also by the relationships he builds—starting right at home. 💛

Some volunteers leave paw prints on our hearts forever — and Trina and her Complex Therapy Dog, Buck, are one of those unforgettable teams.

From helping young readers build confidence with Buck’s gentle, nonjudgmental presence, to bringing smiles and stress relief to university students, employees, and event guests — this duo has done it all with grace, kindness, and a whole lot of tail wags.

Last month, Trina and her family began a new chapter in South Bend, Indiana, where Buck is already making new friends through the afterschool program at the Robinson Community Learning Center near the University of . 💚

Thank you, Trina and Buck, for sharing your hearts, your time, and your love with so many. Your legacy of encouragement and compassion lives on in every child you helped 📚, every person you comforted 💛, and every tail wag you shared 🐶.

Rhonda had never raised a service dog before, but she felt called to give back. In just a few months, she’s already learned what every Puppy Raiser discovers:

➡️ It’s a daily commitment.
➡️ And it’s one of the most rewarding journeys imaginable.

The Dog Alliance story

The Dog Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that strives to improve lives through therapeutic programs based on the bond between humans and canines. Our main community-outreach programs are the Hounds for Heroes and Bow Wow Therapy Dogs programs. Additionally, we provide basic to advanced dog training classes and summer camps for dog-loving children ages 5-15 available to all members of our community.

The Hounds for Heroes program trains service dogs to improve the quality of life for veterans with post-traumatic stress and or mobility challenges.

The Bow Wow Therapy Dog program trains and certifies therapy dogs and their handlers who visit over 300 sites a year including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes; provides assistance to at-risk readers at schools and libraries through the Bow Wow Reading Dog program; and provide stress relief at a wide variety of locations, including nonprofit and for-profit organizations, courts, offices and college campuses.
