Friday during the storms, we had a couple very large trees fall and one of them grazed one of our rental homes! And took down all the power lines with it! We were without power for about 30 hours. We are so thankful for the fire dept for coming out and making sure the down power lines on the ground and up between our house and other rental home were not live and they were actually able to move the power line across the driveway so our other tenant could get in and out! Because we are on a well, we also had no water for 24 hours. We relied on our emergency water bottles and containers, and our composting toilet lol. But power still wasn’t on Saturday due to tens of thousands of people without any power in our area, Ameren was working as hard as they could. But the animals were starting to run low on water in their troughs, so we bought a generator that could power the well pump, our freezer, and a handful of our other breakers so we could have water going to all the homes and fill up the troughs for the horses, dogs, bunnies and birds, and our tenants’ animals. Ameren came Saturday night and restored full power to our property and I am sooooo grateful for all of their hard work and sacrifices!!! It was a stressful weekend but no one here was hurt by the trees and our fences are good. We are praying for those that had much more significant damage and heartbreak from the tornado in STL.
