I think the general consensus is, lots of us had outdoor only dogs when we were growing up!

We love having our dogs in the house with us now and they sleep in our beds and lay on our furniture, but - they also spend lots of time outside too (weather permitting of course!) and I think that’s great 👍

Ok im curious,

Yesterday I was watching a TikTok about a person who said her life has less stress in it now because she made her dogs outside dogs.

Everyone in the comments was tearing her apart about how dogs shouldn’t be outside dogs and if she won’t let them in her house she should get rid of them.

When you were growing up, were dogs always inside dogs?

I grew up on a farm and for most of my childhood our dogs were outside ONLY.

We finally had a stray we adopted that was TERRIFIED of storms so she was allowed inside only when it stormed, and then that led to, also allowed inside in the winter, and then finally, she gradually just became an inside dog.

But when I was younger, everyone around me also had outdoor dogs. My friends, my neighbors, etc

So - what about you? Were your dogs always inside when you were growing up? Or has that changed in the past 30+ years and what used to be normal “back then” is now socially unacceptable now?

Picture of Wren and Bailey, who often spend all day long outside voluntarily. When they get tired of it, they come to the front door and bark, but often will stay out all day by choice.

Maybelle's puppies are three weeks old!

Just for fun I put together collages of what the puppies look like now, and who I think they will look very similar to when they grow up!

Remember - Australian Labradoodles' hair never stops growing, so you can have your dog's hair as short - or as long as you'd like! Many of our dogs look entirely different depending on how they are groomed, so that's always something to remember.
