Haven is a sweet and loving 4.5 year old husky girl. She is black and white with some brown and has blue eyes. Haven is house and leash trained. She is very playful. She loves her people and will do whatever she can to make them happy, even if she has no idea what is wanted. She loves treats and knows the ‘sit’ and ‘lay down’ commands. Haven can get over a 4ft chainlink fence and will need a fence height minimum of 5ft and preferably not chainlink. Haven would do best in a calm household with one other male dog.

Kazu is a stunning 5-year-old Husky with a striking black-and-white coat and mesmerizing heterochromatic eyes—one brilliant blue, the other warm brown. This joyful boy loves attention and is highly treat-motivated, a sweet quirk likely rooted in his tough early life when regular meals weren’t always guaranteed.

At over 70 pounds, Kazu is a strong and handsome companion who will thrive with a bit of training and, most importantly, a loving forever home. He’s ready for a family that will provide the care, patience, and support he deserves—helping him build trust and truly shine. If you’re looking for a loyal, beautiful friend with a big heart, Kazu might just be your perfect match.

We’re thrilled to share that Aston has found his forever home! 🎉
He’s the second of the nine puppies from Portales to be adopted, and his new pack mate is sweet Maggie.

Their home is a dream — a fully fenced acre complete with a lawn, garden, and even a vineyard. Just imagine all the adventures Aston and his sister will have together!

A huge thank-you to his wonderful family for choosing adoption. We can’t wait for the updates and all the happy news to come. ❤️🐾

With very heavy hearts, we share that Tusk (Bandit) has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. His foster gave him tremendous care, and for a time we hoped he might pull through. Sadly, he passed away last night.

Canine distemper is a devastating disease. The mortality rate is estimated at around 50% for adult dogs and up to 80% for puppies. Tusk was surrounded by love until his final moments, and we deeply wish his story could have ended differently.

We are closely monitoring the few dogs who were in contact with him. Sadly, one of the foster’s own dogs, Lucy, who has a compromised immune system, is now fighting the disease. Please keep Lucy in your thoughts and prayers.

We can’t stress this enough: please make sure your dogs are vaccinated. Distemper is preventable, but once contracted, it can be deadly. Protect your pets—vaccinate them.

Reese and Bluey – A Bonded Pair Full of Love and Fun!

Reese and Bluey have been together their whole lives, and we’re hoping to find a forever home where they can stay side by side. They’re a perfect match in both energy and affection, and each brings something special to the duo.

Reese is a goofy, playful girl with a big personality. Scratch her neck and she snorts; scratch her butt and she does a happy dance! She loves fetch—especially if you kick the ball—and she proudly picks out a favorite ball each day to carry around. Reese enjoys water, chasing bubbles, and playing with other dogs. She’s calm on walks, checks in often (especially for treats), and walks beautifully without pulling. She’s crate trained (though she may try to sleep on top of the crate), and knows “sit,” “lay down,” and “leave it.” Reese is smart, athletic, and loves puzzles and games—she’d make a great hiking buddy or patio companion.

Bluey is a sweet, affectionate boy who adores being near his people—leaning in for pets or curling up close by. Like Reese, he enjoys fetch, water, bubbles, and playing with dogs (he prefers females). Bluey is well-mannered, rarely barks or jumps, though the husky in him occasionally sings a song. He’s crate trained, knows his basic commands, and does best with a 6-foot fence due to his athletic jumping skills. Bluey walks well on a leash (especially a bungee one so he can explore), though he gets excited when spotting cats on walks. He’s smart, athletic, and also enjoys puzzle toys and interactive games.

Together, Reese and Bluey are affectionate, fun, and ready for adventure. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and loving duo, these two might just be your perfect pair.

Have you made sure your dog is fully vaccinated?

Have they completed their initial vaccination series? This can truly be a matter of life or death. Distemper is a deadly and highly contagious disease—but it’s preventable with the DAPP vaccine (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus).

We cannot stress this enough: we have seen dogs die from distemper, here at the rescue. It attacks the immune system and is extremely difficult to treat once symptoms appear. It spreads quickly and easily between dogs, especially in public places, boarding facilities, or shelters.

Please, for the sake of your dog(s), check with your vet and make sure they are up to date on their vaccinations. A simple shot can save a life.

Who Are We

The Siberian Husky Rescue of New Mexico is the largest Husky rescue in the state of New Mexico. We have had non-stop continued operation since 1998, rescuing, rehabbing, and adopting Huskies into forever homes. We are entirely donor-supported and most of us work full-time jobs as well as running the rescue. We have no one dedicated facility, but rather open up our homes to the Huskies until they find the right people to call "mom and dad". If you would like to donate, foster, or adopt a Husky, please message us here on our Facebook, we'd love to hear from you!
