Training update!

(Yes that is Minty face down sprawled in the water puddle - her love of water has reached new depths)

The 5am crew had managed to crack out a full week of training! Both teams bumped up the miles and everyone is doing great. We hope for another bump up soon.

The weather - which is the basis for all convo now - is still holding out to what all the locals call a “warm and beautiful fall” 💀

November is tomorrow and there is no snowflake in sight. We are getting antsy. We see our neighbors to the east haven’t seen any either so no snow envy anyway. Just brutal on the dog teams who want/need to see some white wonderland.

BUT the dogs are doing well AND the musher is nearly finished with xc season so we should be seeing more of her soon!

True!

True, our littlest diva, is an eight year old phenom in the sense that she is one hard little puller and she gets along with EVERYONE! Granted, she is super shy and doesn’t really like much stranger human interaction, but she does not bicker or scrap with any of her fellow divas. She’s so chill.

True runs in team position and sometimes swing or wheel but most always in team. She’s def smart enough to lead but does not like the pressure!

True is usually seen at races wearing a diva green wind coat as she has a finer coat than her siblings.

Meat donation!!

Huge thanks to the Andersons in the “old meat donation drive” - we nearly always accept old meat from the freezer! The only exception being when we don’t have freezer space ourselves and it’s warm. Thankfully due to the recent donation from the Truvers, we have some “new to us” freezers that were open to hold the meat!

It takes a village to run a dog team! Thank you everyone!!

Training update!

Well despite the crazy warm temps, the handlers were able to conquer the early mornings to get the race team out training nearly everyday this week 🎉

We had to take a short break Friday and today as temps soared to 75°?! and lows only got to 50°. We don’t train much above 40° for the safety of the dogs with several who are very sensitive to warm temps.

Tomorrow morning we should be back at it and bumping up mileage this coming week. It’s been a slow start - not gonna lie - but any day we can get a run in, is a good day!

With the forecasted warmth, we will just keep doing what is best for the divas and press on!
