Say hello to Dr. Casille Batten! 🐾
We’re excited to welcome Dr. Batten to the Groveway Pet Hospital family! 💙 Originally from South Africa, Dr. Batten brings a wealth of experience—from caring for thoroughbreds in Kentucky to now treating the beloved pets of the Bay Area.
She’s a proud UC Davis grad, a fencing enthusiast (she met her husband on the Cal Poly fencing team!), and shares her home with a sweet pup named Milo and a delightfully grumpy cat named Coco. 🐶🐱
When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find her puzzling it out with jigsaws and crosswords.
Come by and say hi—she can’t wait to meet you and your pets! 🐕🐾🐈

🐾 Today is World Spay Day! 🐾
Spaying (and neutering) is one of the most important decisions pet parents can make for their pets' long-term health and well-being. Beyond preventing unwanted litters, spaying has significant medical and behavioral benefits, including:
✅ Healthier Pets – Spaying reduces the risk of certain cancers and infections, helping pets live longer, healthier lives.
✅ Happier Homes – Pets that are spayed often have fewer behavioral challenges, leading to a more peaceful home environment.
✅ Community Impact – By preventing overpopulation, spaying helps reduce the number of homeless pets in shelters.
We believe in proactive, compassionate care that supports both pets and pet parents. If you have questions about spaying your pet, we’re here to help! 💙

❤️🐾 Love is in the air... but keep the chocolate out of reach! 🍫🚫
Happy Valentine’s Day, pet parents! While you’re indulging in sweet treats today, remember that chocolate is toxic to pets. Even a small amount can cause serious health issues for dogs and cats.
💡 Pet-safe tip: Keep chocolates, candy, and anything with xylitol far away from curious noses. If your pet eats some, call your vet or an emergency clinic right away!
Show your pets love with belly rubs, extra snuggles, and maybe a special pet-friendly treat instead! 🐶🐱💕

🚨 Important Pet Microchip Alert! 🚨
A major pet microchip company, “Save this Life”, has abruptly shut down. If your pet is registered with this company, their microchip may no longer be searchable if they get lost.
🔗 Check your pet’s microchip registration today! If you’re unsure where your pet’s microchip is registered, visit AAHA’s Universal Microchip Lookup Tool (https://bit.ly/4e3ZPg1) to verify. You may need to re-register your pet with a reliable database to ensure they can always be found.
Taking care of your pet’s teeth is about more than just fresh breath (though we love that bonus!). 🐾 Did you know that dental disease is one of the most common health conditions in pets, with most dogs and cats over 3 showing signs of it? 😬
If left untreated, dental disease can lead to tooth pain, tooth loss, and even bigger problems like infections that affect your pet's heart, liver, and kidneys. This can seriously impact their overall health and shorten their lifespan.
Let's keep those smiles healthy and our furry friends happy! 🦷💙
