Once a horse is a Forever Morgans horse, we are there for them forever. We are also there for the people who adopted them. Sometimes life takes a turn that requires new homes for our horses. This is the case for Wick. He needs a new home, either adoptive or foster. Here's more about him.
If you think you are the right person for him, please send us an email at [email protected]. Put Wick in the subject line.
Wick
2010 Chestnut Said to Be Morgan Gelding – 14.2hh
Temporarily Fostered in VT
Rehomed August 2025
Adoption Fee: $500
** New foster or adoptive home needed
Wick stands quietly for grooming, clips and crossties, is polite for the farrier and the vet, likes attention from people, and loves horse treats, carrots and apples. He is fine with fly spray and is easy to blanket in the winter. He is not a fence tester. He currently has a stall in a barn that is always open to a 2-acre pasture. He is up to date on vaccinations. Wick is a very curious horse. He shows an interest in what others are doing and often keeps watch over the neighboring mares.
When first rescued in 2021, his x-rays showed an old injury to his LF sesamoids & suspensory. The vet recommended bute and turnout to keep the joint moving. He said Wick could be occasionally ridden at a walk. In his original foster home, Wick was lunged at a walk with a saddle and was content to just walk. He has been hand walked around a farm and trails and has been longlined with blinkers. He was ridden, and didn’t do anything wrong, but the experience seemed new to him. He would need someone with experience to guide him under saddle since he probably wasn’t ridden much, if at all. He has some old small scars from the harness on his neck and girth area, so it’s very likely he was driving horse. He is not on any medications currently, and negotiates the terrain well. He trots and canters for fun in his pasture from time to time.
Wick has also started positive reinforcement liberty training. He will walk, back up, stay, put his head down, touch a target, and turn his head away for treats. He has very good treat manners and really enjoys and responds well to this type of training. He is a very special boy that will build a strong bond with his person.
Wick has been out with a more dominant gelding and has also been out with a 12hh pony gelding and a mare. He was also fine turned out alone with a buddy sharing a fence line. He is currently turned out with a submissive gelding and is the dominant horse. He comes to the gate when he’s called and nickers a greeting.
Wick is attractive, obedient, gentle, and easy to get along with.
