So excited to announce this long overdue pup of the month Nelly!
Keith Jackson’s signature line was indeed “Whoa, Nellie!” (often stylized as “Whoa, Nelly!”).
He was the legendary voice of college football for ABC Sports for decades (retiring in 2006), known for his warm, folksy Southern style and colorful phrases. “Whoa, Nellie!” was his go-to exclamation for big plays, surprises, or to pump the brakes on excitement—along with others like “Fum-BLE!” or “Hold the phonnnnne!” (for penalties).
Here is what mom has to say - “Nelly is a 1 yr old spunky girl with a big personality. She LOVES dogs but is VERY selective with the humans she lets into her bubble. Once she builds trust, she wants all the belly rubs and will try to boss you around by herding you wherever she wants you to go. When she first started at The Ruff House, her favorite spot was any hiding space she could find. She wouldn’t let any people besides her owners bring her to the play area. Now, she starts whining in the car if we get stuck at a red light because we can’t get there soon enough. She plays non-stop and wags her tail at all the employees!”
