The “Jerk Squad” is now pouting… after two straight hours of grooming, this mama is tired! If y’all know Heelers like I do- you know they prefer to smell like 💩 😂. Their breed literally pushes thousand pound cattle into spaces the cows don’t want to go, roll in dead or ick to ward off predators, and have high pitched ear piercing barks that will shatter ear drums on the daily all because a squirrel is in their yard at any given moment, a bug could fart and my home erupts 🤣🤭😩.
This heeler mama however cannot handle the ick- so they get bathed, nails trimmed and filed, teeth brushed, paw pads shaved out- pads washed and paw protector balm added, eye goop wiped out, ears cleaned and examined as well as brushed. They also may get “felt up” for any abnormalities hiding in their fur- they love that part of the whole process 💕.
Tonight there were no baths- the hubs was sleeping and chasing down lil miss bossy pants who likes to take off mid soap and then hides under the dinner table avoiding my grasp was not on my bucket list for the evening 😂, did I forget to mention my entire main floor is tile? Wet dog, some soap and tile floor is a recipe for disaster 😂.
So bare necessities only… mama did well as she always does, had to fight “Boots” a little here and there to get him to comply, and “Monkey” is still a giant ball of anxieties… which we are still slowly building his confidence with the dreaded nail clippers and paw pad balm. He loves the smell but won’t let me get near his feet unless dad is there to help soothe him. Dad’s snores echoed through the house as Futurama played in the background, and I was left with 3 heathen demons who smelled like death and my allergies could take no more! Now time to fight for my spot on the bed- Good night and sweet dreams 💕
