A bit late I’m sorry, 6weeks old and moving a bunch! They get their time out of the Peña few times a day! Going to attempt outside this weekend if weather permits! They will get their first shots this wk!

4wks old this cute bunch are building personality and independence! Got their deworming, nails trimmed, first solid meal and out of the whelping pen! A lot happening!
Continuing handling, sounds, music played and longer separating from mom!

To say these pics where difficult would be an understatement lol! Babies are three weeks old and moving like crazy and experiencing the world with full senses! They bark or yelp to new loud sounds and are getting acclimated to sounds daily! The whelping pool was moved out and they are on full floor with more space! Momma is wanting more separation lol but is also amazing with them. The next weeks will be full of play and I can’t wait! 🐶

Great blog for dachshund owners in the PNW, and I do agree with her on this matter. I do like a little more leg on my dogs.

When I decided on Otter's breeder, I knew that she produced "old style" Dachshunds, not to the current breed standard. This is what I mean. I'm not saying the older style is better, but it's true that they were bred to be functional back then without much regard to aesthetics (please note, the current shape does not necessarily mean they are not functional - there can be poorly bred dogs of either shape). I kind of prefer Otter's shape.
