In celebration of Panic joining the Tiny Tude family, I have compiled some Chinese Crested Facts.
Chinese Crested are very unique to to the touch. Like a babies bottom of the baby had fever. They were originally found as ratters on Chinese ships which is where they get their name.
Once popular for use as “Hot water bottles.” Wealthy ladies would keep them in their muffs and under dresses to keep them warm.
Intelligent yet stubborn, they have a flare for theatrics and love to perform, eager to please, but easily offended. Sometimes a simple no is like you kicked them.
They vary in hairlessness, ranging from very hairless like Panic. To Hairless like Tink, all the way to a double coat called a Powder Puff. Puffs coats grow long enough to sweep the floor.
CC have hair, not fur. They do not shed and are hypoallergenic.
If not bathed often, they can get zits, black heads and patches of dry itchy skin.
They require sunscreen or clothing in the sun or they burn.
Unlike coated dogs, they can not wear collars all the time, it causes sores.
They are known for being dramatic and manipulating you into doing their bidding.
Often called human babies because they are very good at letting you know what they are thinking and they fake cry! Big crocodile tears!
They prance like deer and hold their tails up like horses.
Their favorite go to is slapping you, especially in the face.
Most CC seem to have springs in their legs, gracefully jumping higher than you would except, without any outward effort.
Hairless Crested are born without all their teeth. This is a common way to discern the difference between a shaved Powder Puff (Has all its teeth) and a Very Hairy Hairless who has missing teeth.
*Panic has no K9s. He only has 4 tiny top and 4 tiny bottom teeth with a big gap and then a few back teeth. His tongue likes to stick out which adds to his uniqueness.
