Algae blooms may produce cyanotoxins which are harmful to dogs. Four dogs perished over the weekend in Wilmington, NC and Georgia. Blooms recorded in 2019 include Raleigh, Wilmington, Wilkesboro, Lake Norman (Charlotte), and Albemarle Sound areas.
