“As a Seeing Eye dog, Fathom did not simply see the world for me, he changed how I viewed the world. Even as I was pursuing advanced degrees, many of my most valuable lessons were taught to me by Fathom,” wrote Seeing Eye graduate Hayden Dahmm in his recent reflection on his first Seeing Eye dog after Fathom’s passing.

Advocacy in action 🦮🏛️

Our Advocacy Team testified this week, in the Senate Labor Committee in support of S533, which is legislation “concerning the training of employees about access to public facilities for individuals with service or guide dogs.”

Thank you to Senator Anthony M. Bucco and Senator Jim Beach for their leadership in sponsoring this important legislation and for recognizing the role education plays in protecting the right to equal access for people who work with service dogs.

Thank you as well to Chairman Senator Gordon Johnson for posting the bill and to the entire committee for their support.

We look forward to working with the sponsors, business groups, and others interested in advancing this legislation and ensuring its effectiveness.

PD: Dave Johnson, Seeing Eye Director of Advocacy and Government Relations, and Melissa Allman, Seeing Eye Senior Specialist of Advocacy and Government Relations, sit together at a wooden desk as they testify before the Senate Labor Committee. Melissa’s yellow Lab Seeing Eye dog lies beside her chair.
