It has been absolutely crazy the last couple weeks at Feathers Tails and Scales! I have been working 13 hours a day taking care of clients while their owners were on vacation. Florence, Molly and her friend Marco, Dexter and his cat friend Rose, another Molly and new Friend Mija.

This is Florence. Florence is a French Bull dog and absolutely hates going outside. Today Adam was helping me walk her when she got stubborn and refused to move when we tried to go down a more accessible path for Adam. The pavement was hot since the temp was 89. I picked her up since she was refusing to move on asphalt. After a couple seconds she got heavy, so I rested her on the back of Adam’s chair. She got a huge doggy grin on her face and was loving her ride! She rode the rest of the way back to her building. I made sure to have a hand on her for her safety, but she wasn’t even interested in moving!

Happy Fourth of July. Many dogs, especially older dogs are frightened by fireworks. Be sure to let them out early before the fireworks begin and if your dog is very frightened give them Melatonin chews to help them calm down. Please don't take your dogs to the fireworks. They need to be home where they can get to their safe spot. Where is your dogs safe spot? Sammy runs to Adam's wheelchair and jumps on the foot plate. Athena can no longer hear so she isn't bothered and Chica is not bothered so far. Remember keep your pets safe!

This is Adam “walking” our three dogs. Sammy prefers to ride. Adam is an excellent dog handler and can easily handle multiple dogs.

Part of my job is loving on senior dogs. They come with all sorts of health problems and need medicines and sometimes have accidents. Helping them in the final years to live the best life possible and understanding that they can’t help that they need a mess cleaned up is such a blessing. This is Boris and Rogue. When I first started caring for them along with JJ, they were both very old. Sadly my heart was broken twice in a very short period of time when first Boris died and a couple months later Rogue died as well.
