Friends of Carmichael Canine Corral The Canine Corral was the first off-leash dog park to be developed in Carmichael, California. It has been in operation for nearly twenty years.

The first off leash dog park to be developed in the Sacramento County, CCCA is an association of members using the Carmichael Dog Park located in the Carmichael Park. In 1998 Laverne Shell, a Carmichael resident, collected 120 signatures on a petition from local residents. The petition asked the Carmichael Recreation and Park District (CRPD) to designate an off-leash area for dogs and their owners

to socialize and exercise. Some of the petition signers started to work on plans to raise funds for the park. CRPD designated an area from an existing picnic sites in Carmichael Park. Several years passed. Residents organized the Carmichael Dog Park Society (CDPS) to support development of the facility. In 2011, the name of the park was changed to the Carmichael Canine Corral. The Corral has become a very popular gathering place for residents of both Carmichael and the surrounding neighborhoods. Dogs and their owners came from Fair Oaks, Foothill Farms, Arden Arcade, Citrus Heights, Orangevale and North Highlands.
