💡Pet Care Tip: Teach more than just "sit!" Many pets can sit while still worked up and overstimulated. Teaching a true “calm” cue—like going to a designated mat and lying down quietly—helps reduce holiday stress, excitement during guests’ visits, and even nighttime restlessness. Practice for 2 minutes a day and reward the relaxed behavior, not the command itself.

The holidays are here, and while we’re decking the halls, let’s make sure our furry family members stay safe and happy at home! Here are a few seasonal hazards to keep in mind:

🎄Certain holiday plants like poinsettias, lilies, holly, and mistletoe can be toxic to dogs and cats.
❄️Ornaments and tinsel can be tempting to play with—but they can also cause stomach issues if swallowed.
⚡Candles and electrical cords are easy for curious noses to bump into or chew, so keep them out of reach.

If you’re traveling this holiday season, in-home pet sitting allows your pets to stay comfortable, safe, and stress-free in familiar surroundings—no unfamiliar kennels or loud boarding facilities. Skip the boarding with Pawsitively Spoiled!

💡Pet Care Tip: As the temps drop, it’s time to winterize your pet’s routine:

🧥 Bundle up! Short-haired dogs may need a coat for walks.
🐾 Protect those paws. Ice melt and cold pavement can be harsh, so use pet-safe paw balm or booties.
🏠 Check their space. Make sure outdoor shelters are dry, insulated, and warm.
🍲 Adjust meals. Pets that spend more time outside may need a little extra fuel to stay warm.

A little prep goes a long way toward keeping your pet healthy and happy all winter long!

✅ Sweet potatoes – mashed or baked without butter or sugar
✅ Green beans – steamed, plain, and unsalted
✅ Pumpkin – pure, cooked pumpkin (not pie filling!)
✅ Apples – sliced, with seeds and core removed

💡Pet Care Tip: Cats love predictability, and sudden changes can stress them out. Whether it’s feeding time, playtime, or bedtime, try to stick to a steady schedule. Keep litter boxes clean and in the same spot, and set aside daily playtime to keep them active and happy. If you don't free feed your cats, it's also a good idea to feed them at regular times to avoid tummy troubles!

Consistency = comfort for your feline friend. And when you’re away, our in-home pet sitting makes sure their routine stays just the way they like it!
