Need I say more?

Happy as can be e-collar trained dogs.

My dogs aren’t even in a fenced field either. They are off exploring and being dogs in an open cemetery. I couldn’t quite see them from where I was but knew they were over by the trees doing some of their high value activities (looking for squirrels and checking gopher/mole holes).

Don’t let force free/pure positive people scare you away from e-collar training your dog. When done correctly, it is a beautiful tool that allows you peace of mind and your dogs freedom.

For those that will ask, I use the Mini Educator ecollars. I’ve used them for years and have been really happy with them. They have a 1/2 mile range and are waterproof-my dogs have swam and been in water with them, no problem!

Casey’s mom hired me largely due to his jumping (and mouthiness) with people. The first time I met him, he about knocked me over.

His mom was interested in ecollar training for recall so we also utilized the ecollar for the jumping. I showed her and explained how to utilize it & when I came back 2 weeks later, he made a great choice on his own to not jump!

His mom had texted me prior to arriving and said they were in the back playing ball and told me to go thru the gate. This was actually a great opportunity to really put the training to the test. As you can see, he is wearing his ecollar (in the event he made a choice that warranted a correction), but he sees me, comes running and doesn’t jump! No ecollar was actually used in this moment. His mouthiness has also ceased since he’s no longer jumping as he would do that while he was jumping.

There’s no fallout. He’s still super excited to greet people but polite. She said he’d been doing a great job politely greeting people between our sessions. Shortly after this, we left to go on a walk where he encountered a small child who wanted to pet him and he politely approached and didn’t jump.

This may not seem like much but to many owners, these chaotic behaviors are very stressful. Training helps you and your dog live better lives together.

I hear so many people and even trainers saying that playing tug with your dog will make them aggressive.

Absolute nonsense 🤡

This is a great way to actually fulfill your dog & you can also train at the same time. It also does wonders for your relationship when done correctly.

Recap of Honey’s Training progression with 1:1 sessions!

Honeys family was proactive and wanted to get her leash skills ironed out prior to baby coming later this spring! She pulled so much they dreaded walking her and it posed safety issues with a baby in the picture. She also wasn’t getting walked as much because it wasn’t super enjoyable to be getting dragged around by her.

We also did some other training inside the house to prep for the addition of a baby, teaching her a bed command and also a send away command. Being a Golden Retriever who is super social, she loved to greet people with a lot of exuberance but we also worked on polite greetings with no jumping.

Hats off to her family who was committed and great at doing their homework in between our 1:1 sessions.

The training doesn’t work unless you do but it’s definitely possible to hit your goals with your dog if you’re willing and committed and do the homework.

Now that she’s got some training, her world has opened up and she gets to experience more!

Trained dogs live bigger lives! ❤️

Well intentioned humans dwelling on the past sob stories of their rescue/shelter dog.

It’s something I see very regularly. People attach a sad story with their dogs and sometimes use it as an excuse as to why the dog is the way it is or why it does something. It also gets used as a way to provide a heavy amount of love and affection to try and make up for their previous life.

Here’s the thing though. It’s well intentioned but cripples the dog from really living their best life. Our dogs are so much more than their past.

Your dog being abandoned isn’t a reason to not crate train or train your dog at all. Your dog having been malnourished isn’t a good reason to feed the dog so much food and treats that it’s now overweight (overweight dogs end up with shorter lives and more health issues).

Let’s help our dogs move on-overcome and truly live their best lives! Stop dwelling on the past.

The best medicine for you dog is the least thought about things:
•Sun/Natures Vitamin D
•Movement
•Time outside in nature being a dog-sniffing, exploring, digging, etc
•Quality Food

So many people are jumping to quick fixes when a lot of times, the simplest and most readily available things that don’t cost much or anything, can be the most beneficial for your dog and its overall health and well-being.

Get outside with your dog-move together and let your dog enjoy itself (responsibly-longline or flexi if your dog doesn’t have reliable off leash recall). I think you’ll be surprised by what you see after several days of doing this. ❤️

I will never forget my Gabbie girl.

People always wondered why I chose her-her sagging ni***es from freshly weaned pup, her dry, brittle urine soaked hair, no training whatsoever-but she ended up winning everyone over with her demeanor and temperament.

I would be lying if I said the first few months with her were easy. They were anything but easy and I remember calling my mom in tears so frustrated some days. I look back now and wish I would’ve known then what I know now but that’s all part of the journey of life.

She was truly my Ride or Die dog and she was incredible. So many adventures together and life milestones.

She’s been gone over 8 years now and sometimes it still feels like yesterday. I still think about her often and miss her dearly. I do find peace in believing she sent Atlas to me.

Don’t give up on the hard dogs-it’s part of the journey. Don’t discount the underdog or overlook the diamond in the rough.

The last pic is of her final resting place. One of her favorite things was to look out over the property. ❤️

Thrifted him right off the euthanasia list on euthanasia day.

You can 💯 find super nice dogs with a lot of potential in the shelters if you know what you’re looking for.

As I always like to say “Someone’s junk, is another one’s treasure.”
