‼️ UPDATE Re: Mystery Respiratory Illness
It's our responsibly to inform you that cases have officially been reported in the state of New Mexico. This being said, we are still tracking and doing everything in our power to keep your pets safe.
With the holidays coming up, we know several of you will be either traveling with or boarding your pets, at our facility or elsewhere. We want our clients to know we will be vaccinating any animal boarding in our facility with the K9 influenza vaccine as well as bordetella, and they will need to be given PRIOR to boarding. Though experts still cannot identify the current issue, it has been advised by the State Veterinarian's office to have these vaccines updated. While existing vaccines may not specifically target this unknown infection, maintaining overall health through routine vaccinations can help support a dog's immune system in combating various infections.
🛑To clarify, it will be a REQUIREMENT at our facility for your pet(s) to be vaccinated during this time. This will need to be taken care of PRIOR to your pet(s) boarding. ✅
‼️ Per State Veterinarian:
In addition, monitor dogs closely for progressive coughing that may be accompanied by signs of ocular or nasal discharges and sneezing.
If these clinical signs develop, consult your veterinarian immediately, particularly if your dog concurrently loses its appetite, has trouble breathing, is coughing continually, or is extremely lethargic.
For the time being, it would be prudent to avoid dog parks and other social events where your dog could have contact with dogs of unknown vaccination or health status. If boarding, day care, or grooming are required, complete the vaccinations recommended before attending. 🐾
