The youngest (as of 2014-07-29) of the beasts here. Mix griffin/lab, he was unable to match Maggie's shoe destruction record, but he did match her dresser k**b removal and far exceeded her sofa destruction levels, so it's probably a wash. Very rarely caught in focus.

The cat of many lives - from being trapped in a snow drift for multiple days, to having his belly literally sliced open by a rooster he was pestering, to fooling us multiple times that his time was nigh, Elliot King, He Who Was Born Tail-Less, First of his Name, was in his dotage a benevolent figure, content to wile away his days embedded in the blankets atop our bed.

His daily nemeses, Big Red and Tiger, with whom he nightly reached truce so that all might sleep on the bed, won't admit it, but will miss him nearly as much as we will.

We brought Poppy home from Boiling Springs Animal Hospital in Fall '09. She was one of literally dozens of cats rescued from the home of a local woman who was known for taking in any animal that showed up at her door. When the woman passed away, multiple local vets and rescues were flooded. While cared for, many, including Poppy, were essentially feral.
I had warned Krista that if Poppy were still available (she was in a cage with a sign) 10 days after I'd first seen her, she was coming home with me. And, so... crabby and deaf and really, REALLY opposed to claw-trimming, she made it to the house.
Over six years she eased into a friendly, even demandingly so, inhabitant at the Schloss. I will miss being urgently chewed out if I failed to brush her or otherwise meet her demands.
Poppy passed away peacefully overnight in her favorite bowl, right on the cusp of her favorite season (inside by the fireplace during Winter). :(

Charlie was found out on the Pine Rd, no chip, no takers, so he's lived with us ever since. We believe he was a single dog as it took a while for him to hang with the menagerie here. He's still a bit of a loner and likes his quiet. But after the mob has settled down and gotten dozy, he'll pop up next to you and demand pets. Very cat-like in that way. :)
