Mabel needed help with her impulse control in order to avoid smothering her people with her love and stop running after critters around the farm. Mabel made a ton of progress as she learned clear personal boundaries and expectations for interactions, gained the ability to settle and not bid for attention every second, and can be reliably off leash to enjoy a good run!

Winnie is a great girl with a lot of love to give. She was already reasonably reliable off leash but her family’s biggest complaint was her jumping on guests and turning her ears off to follow the lead of the other dogs in the house during exciting situations. We reworked her basic skills then advanced to off leash to gain the clarity needed for the higher intensity moments she struggled with before. Winnie sailed through her training and is now showing off to all her visitors.

Missie is a pup with a high herding drive. Mix in the fact she came to her family at 4 weeks old and Missie was set up to become a furry alligator. Puppies can eat food at 4 weeks old but the next 4 weeks of their life is a critical socialization period when they are taught by their mom and littermates bite inhibition, or the ability to measure the amount of pressure they apply with their mouths and when it’s appropriate to use their mouths. Working in our lessons we took Missie back to preschool and showed her the when’s and when not to use her mouth. We established other personal boundaries to eliminate jumping and gained obedience skills to develop more self control across the board. Missie has truly done a 180 and her people are thrilled to not be chew toys any longer.

Ozzy has a really good head on his shoulders. He gets excited like any young dog and sometimes thinks what people say is a suggestion rather than a command. During his board & train stay we worked through controlled exposure to Ozzy’s excitement triggers (mainly people and other dogs) and developed his understanding of coming on command. Ozzy went home happy to show off his new skills and on a good track to keep growing into them. Keep working hard Ozzy boy!

Grayson worked in his lesson program to gain his basic obedience skills and settle himself in his kennel. With a lot of intentional kennel work Grayson is relaxing in his kennel and taking naps like it never bothered him at all. His obedience skills came quickly and easily with his eager attitude and Grayson is set up to grow from an awesome puppy to an awesome dog.

Roxie and her owner started lessons with the goal Roxie would be able to calm herself down when needed, drop items when told, and come to her owner when called. Those last two were tricky because Roxie LOVED a game of keep-away! As we worked through her skills we were able to show Roxie there was a time and the right items for play and a time to be serious. Roxie wrapped up her program with a good balance of fun and business to keep everyone happy and fulfilled.

Willow had a ton of great training experiences under her belt (or should I say collar) before starting her lessons. She has an older paw-sibling at home who she followed to gain some come-on-command reliability and had been out practicing focus with her owner in public places. The main thing Willow lacked was the ability to settle. She enjoyed work almost a bit too much and wanted to constantly be engaged with her person. Through her lessons we built skills such as place and stay and used them to teach Willow the ability to put her brain into low-gear. Now Willow can be active and working but also switch into a settled mode without whining when asked.

Whiskey came through our Board & Train program to get his skills on the same level as his paw-siblings. He is a sweet and willing boy who had some puppy antics to work through as well as the slightest hint of reactivity starting to show up. Sometimes as puppies hit a certain developmental stage they start to react to stimuli such as seeing other dogs, people, new sounds, or novel sightings. As the two-leggeds in the equation it is our job to discourage inappropriate behavior and guide the dog towards a more neutral attitude. They don’t need to be eager to investigate every new experience or greet each person or dog they encounter but we do want the dog to settle in, relax, and trust the human to guide the situation.

Penny is a sweet little pup needing some help with her basic obedience skills and gaining a little more confidence as she matures. Penny did very well in her lessons and was eager to learn. As she gained her skills it gave her owner more opportunities to practice exposure around situations that would cause excitement or fear but allow Penny to learn how to respond in a more neutral manner. Penny is on track to growing into the best version of herself and we are excited to watch!
