“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” Meet the dog “formerly known as Shaggy” who is located and is available for adoption . He was my Saturday Project Dog. RARELY do I know what kind of project I’m getting, but when I saw his name in my appointment book…ASSUMPTIONS WERE MADE. Shaggy is a Sarah McLaughlin song and video waiting to happen, he was a gross,sad mess, and it hurt my heart to see him in this condition. But then there’s the solace , once the clippers are in the pelt, breaking the cycle. Peeling away the temporary damage that has been done. Shaggy has obviously been neglected, but Shaggy knows love, not just love from myself his groomer, or his ACO (he perked his ears up when he heard the familiar sound of the Animal Control Truck pull into the parking lot) he adjusts very well. He knows how to give and receive love, and he does so with healthy intent. He is another diamond in the rough of millions of discarded, unwanted pets that land in our nations shelters; and he has won the lotto landing in OUR communities no kill shelter. His tense body quickly relaxed as I peeled his matting off of him as his movements weren’t bound by the confines of his fur anymore. His first opportunity in freedom was to turn around and gently nudge his nose into my face with a shy kiss. He was met with positive words and a nuzzle back. Which opened the door to more shaggy kisses and by the time the grooming session had ended, one of us looked and smelled way better than the other 🤣but alas I had the luxury of going to MY home and showering. Shaggy was handed back over, he was relaxed in the crook of my arm on his back like a baby:soft, sweet,innocent and deserving of all the love available in this world. I would guess he’s a Maltipoo, under 2 years old, and likes men and women. He’s shy at first, and rightfully so. Someone failed him at some point, and I’m so happy to be part of the tribe who gives him the opportunity to be loved and appreciated as he so deserves. Meet Shaggy at the San Clemente Dana Point Animal Shelter, and thank The Pet Project Foundation for giving all of US the opportunity to LOVE HIM.

The cats officially out of the bag…the Bow Wow Gang gathered to send off our sweet Manager Danielle last week, as her husband Kyle accepted a promotion in Texas! Not gonna lie, we are already missing her sweet, sunshiney hellos in the morning, her laughter, her love of snacks and ridiculous music choices, and candid hilariosness. She has been our ONLY MANAGER and anchorwoman for 11 years and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else by my side growing and loving this business with me. While this departure is saddening for so many of us, I am also her biggest cheerleader in her next chapter, knowing she will have so many more opportunities to not work as hard and have more family time in a state geared towards JUST THAT ! Happy Trails Danielle! We’ll see you soon! ❤️

Happy 4th from the cutest Velvet hippo Peaches! Please make sure your pets are prepared for today’s festivities! Gates are locked, Collars with identification is ON (don’t have a tag? Use a paper clip, a piece of paper and some scotch tape to make a tag for today to attach to your pets collar)

Happy Fathers Day to all of our Fathers out there! Whether you’re a Doggie Daddy or a Daddy Daddy we hope your day is filled with fun and love; surrounded by the people and 4 leggers you love most!
I was fortunate to have been raised in the mountains by the most amazing Pop, who was such a huge inspiration for my love of racing, wildlife, the sierras, the desert and my empathic connection to all creatures great and small. From Bugs to Reptiles to Elephants, he taught me to love and handle them all!
There is a lot of references to these pictures in our Bow Wow Beautiful Website and separate articles (the San Clemente Journal, and the Coastal pulse) written about me when the shop first opened, i love to be able to finally share them!
Miss the days of him calling the shop and disguising his voice to make fake grooming appointments with the most ridiculous scenarios and accents.
My pop passed away in February, but I will carry on his legacy and his love of nature for life ❤️

Meet Sven! This guy is so excited for his Spa Day he BOUNCES through the door, and then stands perfectly still on the table for his grooming! He’s just the perfect love bug! And his parents do a great job brushing him out, so they have more options on how they’d like him to look! I Was so happy that they brought in a picture of another doodle I had groomed and asked for that same style! Love it when we’re able check all boxes with success!
