If you are in a situation with too many feral cats and need some help, please reach out to The HCVS Medical Care Team for support! We are prepared to offer seven 100% free TNR surgeries -that's a $525 value!
-- Do you need help but are able to share the support with others? We would love to offer even more TNR surgeries but at a reduced cost (say $10 or $20 per cat) so the PIF fund can be stretched to help more people of our community help more community cats

HCVS has a few dates where the hospital will be fully closed:

-- May 10 - May 18
-- Memorial Day (05/26/2025)

We have some housekeeping, exciting updates behind the scenes, and a little vacation time to take care of in there :D We will be completely unavailable during those dates, but you are most welcome to send emails during that time, and we will answer them when we return. 🙂

UPDATE: We are scheduled for our hospital phone number (734-413-8579) to transfer to a new company, which will allow us to contact clients again! This will start at 8 AM tomorrow, 02/06/2025 and can take up to 10 days for effect (we were told to expect 24 hours).

OUR PHONES ARE BLOCKED - YOU CAN TEXT US, BUT WE CAN'T TEXT BACK :( (UPDATES SOON- we have a full surgery schedule first) -HCVS

-- PHONES MAY LOCK OUT MONDAY --

Do you remember when we shared this before? The government is supposed to lock all texting from non-personal numbers starting 02/03/2025 unless they have passed approval, but they have pushed the date back 4 times already due to backlog in getting approvals done (including ours!).

Dr. Barlas and Kristal have logged over 5 hours on tech support lines trying quite literally to just let us be allowed to text BACK our clients 💔 After 2.5 hours today, we are as prepared as we can be... now we wait. 🙃 If our number is locked out, we will be posting here with updates and notifying everyone by email. It is completely out of our control and our clients'... all we can do is wait and see.

HPAI has been identified in Wayne County.

In the last 60 days, cases have been ID'ed in:
Wayne | Oakland | Jackson | Ottawa | Missaukee

Dr. Barlas spent 4 hours today (01/18/2025) reviewing material and discussing with colleagues the concern for HPAI, particularly in cats. An outline of current information can be found on the following images -huge shout out to Dr. K Black for her research outlines. As new information is made aware, Dr. Barlas will update this post and comment below. Initially, this information was going to be used by HCVS and shared with FMAR, but we know many feral cat caretakers follow us here, and we want everyone to know what we know

Not our pup here, but we’ve had it happen! Dr. Barlas and her husband came home one day to the smell of gas and very luckily no fire! We now have covers on the stove buttons to protect from this happening 💕 Highly recommend!
