CANTON DOG PARK UPDATE: Thank you to all of our Dog Park members for your patience and understanding while we deal with the unavoidable muddy conditions that arise as temperature fluctuations start occurring with more frequency during this time of year. Please know that we are aware of this issue, as well as additional problems that have been brought to our attention and are working to solve them from several angles. New Large and Small Dog area signage has been ordered to re-enforce the rules and will be displayed shortly. It is important that all dog park members adhere to all posted rules and signs. Fence repairs are currently being coordinated with a local professional company but will be delayed until frost ground conditions will allow repairs. Members can expect completion of this project by the end of April. Canton Parks staff is currently working on developing a turf maintenance plan that will address routine maintenance, as well as important procedures to minimize turf damage. Details regarding this turf maintenance plan will be made available at the end of April. As always, Canton Parks reserves the right to close the Dog Park at any time to minimize turf damage, as well as for routine maintenance. Lastly, additional gravel stone is expected to be added to the parking lot this week – weather permitting – to address potholes and provide a more level surface for vehicle traffic. As a reminder, the Canton Dog Park remains a self-policing area where all dog owners are responsible for the actions and conduct of their animals and themselves at all times when in the park. For more information, please contact the Canton Parks office at 734/394-5310.
