Please spay and neuter your pets. So many lives are lost each year due to over population. We simply don’t have enough loving homes for all of these animals.

This isn’t just a graphic… it’s reality. And it’s heartbreaking. 💔🐾

“Free” puppies and kittens are never truly free. Behind every cute face is a lifetime commitment—time, money, patience, and love. 🐶🐱❤️ And when that commitment isn’t honored, they’re the ones who pay the price. 😞

The truth is devastating… thousands of dogs and cats are losing their lives simply because there aren’t enough homes. 🏠💔 Not because they aren’t good enough. Not because they aren’t lovable. But because there are just too many, and not enough people stepping up. 📉

This is why spaying and neutering matters. ✂️🐾 This is why responsible pet ownership matters. 🐕🐈 This is why we speak up—even when it’s hard to hear. 📣

These animals deserved more than running out of time. ⏳ They deserved families. They deserved love. 🥺❤️

New laws regarding dogs in Georgia.

UPDATE: HB 331 was signed into Georgia law and prohibits the sale or barter of dogs, cats, and domestic rabbits in transient, outdoor locations such as parking lots, sidewalks, roadsides, and pop-up flea markets. The law became effective July 1st but has NOT yet been posted in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.). The GA Pet Coalition was informed that this lag time is common for new laws. HB 331 will be listed in state law as O.C.G.A. § 4-11-10.1.

Because this is a new statute, law enforcement officers are encouraged to initially issue warnings for most violations in order to educate breeders and allow local governments time to adopt an ordinance to expand their options for enforcement. Animal control and code enforcement officers can also assist with education when encountering breeders in prohibited locations.

In the meantime, advocates can inform the public, businesses, and breeders by sharing this one-page FAQ prepared by the GPC:

NOTE. Only P.O.S.T.* certified law enforcement officers (e.g., police, sheriff) have the authority to enforce violations of O.C.G.A. § 4-11-10.1 via a warning or an arrest warrant. Once a local government adopts an ordinance prohibiting the same illegal conduct in O.C.G.A. § 4-11-10.1, both P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officers AND non-P.O.S.T. certified animal control and code enforcement officers will be authorized to cite violations under local code.
