July was a busy month for us. We added 2 new faces to our pack. Mary Jane (MJ) and Penelope (Penny). Both have the sweetest temperament and the rest of the dogs have already accepted them. 🐾

Looking for a Soft Place to Land for a Senior Boy šŸ’”

This is Bubba. He is 16 years old, nearly 70 lbs, and looking for a loving home to spend his remaining years after losing both of his humans.

Bubba has lived in the same home in CT his entire life with an elderly couple who absolutely adored him. His human mom passed away 5 years ago, and sadly his human dad passed away yesterday. Bubba stayed faithfully by his side through it all. He’s spent years being a quiet, comforting companion — happy just laying nearby and keeping someone company.

Despite his age, Bubba is honestly amazing. He can still jump on and off the couch, gets onto the bed using his little stairs, walks nicely on a leash, and does not have accidents in the house. He is nearly completely deaf and does have arthritis, but he gets CBD treats that help keep him comfortable. He also has a chronic tooth infection that is managed with medication about once a month and does not affect his appetite. He is up to date on rabies vaccine, Frontline, and heartworm prevention.

Most importantly — he is incredibly sweet. Bubba just wants to be near people. He would be perfect for an older person or quiet household wanting a gentle companion to share their days with.

We know taking on a senior dog can feel overwhelming, so for the right person, Bubba’s foster mom is willing to financially help support his care with the promise that he will always stay safe, loved, and never end up in a shelter.

Please share. Senior dogs deserve soft landings too. ā¤ļø

Adopting a Retired Breeder Isn’t a Rescue!!!

Retired breeding dogs from responsible breeders aren’t being ā€œsaved.ā€ These dogs have been deeply loved and cared for their entire lives. They were chosen with purpose, raised with attention, and treated like family, not just breeding animals. Ethical breeders invest their hearts into these dogs: they know their personalities, their quirks, their favorite toys, and what comforts them. Many sleep in the breeder’s bed, get constant attention, and are doted on from day one.

When a dog retires, it isn’t because they weren’t wanted. It’s because they’ve completed their role in the program, and the breeder wants them to enjoy the next chapter, one where they can soak up all the attention in a home of their own. Their move isn’t a rescue; it’s a loving transition into a new life where they get to be the center of someone’s world.

Rescue dogs, on the other hand, often come from shelters, the streets, or difficult situations. They truly need saving and a second chance. Both breeders and rescues do wonderful, important work, but the situations are very different.

A retired breeder isn’t being saved, they’re being celebrated. They’re moving from a home where they were cherished to another home that will spoil them just as much. It’s not a rescue story; it’s a love story with a new chapter.ā¤ļø
