We’ve been feeling the love lately - and we just want to say thank you. 🐾

We recently received a heartfelt donation in honor of a beloved family pet, Fred - a rescued kitty from Fremont County who was clearly deeply loved. We’ll share the family’s touching note and tribute video in the comments.

Others have sent food for our hungry kittens and mamas, helping us keep bellies full as these babies grow strong. And a few generous souls gifted us cozy blankets, trap covers, carrier covers, and pads - comfort for both our foster cats and our TNR-focused volunteers working hard behind the scenes.

We’re overwhelmed - in the best way - by the generosity of this community. 💛

P.S. If you’ve sent wishlist items, please know that we don’t receive names with the shipments. If you’d like a donation receipt, just email us - we’d love to thank you properly.

Together, we’re doing big things for many small paws. 🐾

🐾 Sunday Socializing Spotlight 🐾

Socializing feral kittens is both an art and a race against time. Kittens born outdoors to feral moms have a small window - usually before 10 weeks of age - when they’re most receptive to human interaction. Miss that window, and it becomes much harder to help them adjust to life as indoor companion pets.

We’re currently working with these spicy little ones to earn their trust, one quiet moment at a time. With patience, consistency, and the right approach, they have a real shot at happy, love-filled lives inside.

Check the comments for a great post from Community Cat Coalition with helpful tips on the socialization process. And if you’re interested in helping us with future litters, we’d love to welcome you as a volunteer - drop us an email!

🎉 Here’s a Fri-YAY Feel Good for ya!

Meet Pickles - a tiny fighter with a big spirit. 💚

This sweet little guy was found all alone under a mobile home, barely hanging on. He had a horrible upper respiratory infection, could barely breathe, and one eye was completely crusted shut. He only weighed 14 ounces - about half of what he should have at that age. But Pickles never gave up. Even when he was struggling, he kept purring.

After some emergency care, he headed to a loving foster home where he quickly started to bounce back. His appetite showed up fast - and so did his personality! Now over 2 pounds, Pickles zooms around with his favorite tennis ball, meows for attention, and wins hearts wherever he goes — including that of his new medical foster, who’s totally smitten. 🥰

He’s still on antibiotics and being syringe-fed (since he can’t smell or see his food dish yet), but he’s working hard on learning to eat from a bowl.

At his latest eye checkup, the news wasn’t great - the eye isn’t working and will probably need to be removed once he’s bigger and healthier. But honestly? Pickles is already rocking the one-eyed life like a champ.

We’re so proud of how far he’s come - from sick and struggling to sweet and s***ky. ❤️

🐾 Amara’s Glow-Up & Wetmore Kitties Update 🐾

Remember Amara, yesterday’s Whisker Wednesday beauty?

When we first trapped Amara back in January for our TNR clinic, she was in rough shape - very sick with a severe upper respiratory infection, her fur so matted her legs were stuck to her torso, and painful goathead burrs were lodged against her skin. She could barely walk. 💔

Amara is one of over 30 cats we pulled from a single colony in Wetmore. We’ve been fostering the 11 most social kitties in hopes of finding them forever indoor homes.

Thanks to the exceptional care from Dr. Erin Davezac, Dr. Lisa Eskridge and the Eskridge Veterinary Clinic team, and Dr. Ashley Metcalfe and the Fremont Veterinary Hospital team - and the unwavering love and commitment from fosters Chris, Liz, and Sue - Amara and others are finally living the good life. ✨

Yesterday, Amara and a few of her Wetmore colony friends - Pokey, Harley, and Skye - moved on to a rescue partner to continue their journey toward adoption and forever homes. 💖

This group has been with us for over five months. It’s been a long, emotional road filled with meds, slow recoveries, and lots of patience. But they were worth every minute.

Here’s where the rest of the Wetmore crew stands:
• Indigo – socializing with Liz
• Wilson – socializing with Chris
• Valentino – ear surgery coming soon
• Phil – adopted by Liz
• Gibson – adopted by Sue

We are so grateful to everyone who’s played a role in their journey. Watching Amara go from barely mobile to this confident, radiant kitty is a reminder of what love and time can do.

Stay tuned for a special update on Valentino soon!

🐾 Whisker Wednesday Feline Fun Fact 🐾

Have you ever noticed how some cats look like they’re wearing little mittens or boots? That’s due to a genetic trait called “white spotting” which controls how much white fur a cat has and where it appears!

This gorgeous girl sports a low-grade white spotting pattern, giving her cute little socked feet. While we don’t know her exact breed, her soft point coloration and symmetrical markings give her an extra regal flair.

Fun Fact: This gene doesn’t just influence fur color. It also plays a role in early development in the womb, affecting everything from coat placement to hearing in some high-white cats!

💫 Featured Feline: Amara 💫

Come back tomorrow to hear more about her journey and see what she looked like when we first trapped her.

🚨FREMONT COUNTY🚨

We need your help! JJ’s Helping Paws is planning a much-needed large-scale cat-only spay/neuter clinic here in Fremont County - and we’re on the hunt for the perfect location.

🔍 What we need:
- A large indoor space on the first floor with easy access
- Air conditioning
- Working restrooms
- Access to power & water
📅 Available July 17th–21st
(This includes prep days / safe holding before & after surgery.)

Our goal? Spay/neuter 90-100 kitties to reduce the burden of overpopulation here in Fremont County!

🙏 If you have suggestions, connections, or know of a facility that is available during this timeframe, please email us at [email protected] or comment below.

p.s. If you have connections to the owners of the now-closed Office Depot, Halloween Spirit location, or True Value buildings - these would be ideal locations, provided they meet the above requirements, i.e. still have power, running water, AC, etc., - please connect us. 🫶🏼

Together, we can make a huge difference for our community. 🐾💙

Recently, our team received a call for urgent help when a young kitten escaped during an adoption meeting near the Village Inn. The frightened all-black kitten darted toward nearby homes and yards, and the people trying to adopt him quickly lost sight of the speedy feline.

Knowing how young and vulnerable he was, JJ’s volunteers jumped into action right away. They canvassed the area, spoke with neighbors, and set a humane trap with some extra tasty food and the waiting game began. Fortunately, hunger can be a big motivator and sure enough, during a drive-by check, our TNR Director Marcia spotted the tiny kitten. 💛

Thanks to the quick action of our volunteer team, this kitten was trapped and returned to his appreciative new owner. His new mom, Candace, gave us the sweetest update:

💬 “Well, when we thought it was a girl, we named her Tia. But now we know it’s a boy — meet Ty! Full name: Ty KaHu. ‘Kahu’ is Hawaiian for guardian, protector, someone entrusted with something cherished. He weighs just 1.10 lbs and has already gained 0.5 oz since your sweet helpers found him! He’s on antibiotics, probiotics, and eye meds, and he’s already feeling better. His little eyes look so much better, and he’s starting to show his s***k and talk more. I love it!”

Welcome to your new life, Ty KaHu. We know you are so loved already and we’re so thankful we were able to help you get where you are meant to be. 💙 🐾

Happy Fri-YAY... we have BREAKING mews!!

Remember how we joked that Elton was our “Peter Pan kitten” who refused to grow up?

Well... apparently he heard us. Whether his ears were burning, or he simply decided our commentary was uncalled for, Mr. Elton has officially stepped up to the dish - and started eating on his own!! 🎉️

We’re not saying he was being dramatic before...
But after weeks of acting like a very fancy, very tiny baby bird (syringe only, thank you very much)- last night, Elton casually strutted over and helped himself to some wet food like he’d been doing it all along. No big deal.

It’s a HUGE milestone for this little fighter - especially since he was found face-down in a woodpile and couldn’t even smell food (p.s. we got some ancient nose-gunk out this week too. Victory all around.)

We’re so proud of you, Elton. And don’t worry, maybe we’ll retire the Peter Pan nickname... once you hit 2 pounds. 😉

If you caught yesterday’s Whisker Wednesday, you’ve already heard Elton’s legendary scream-meows. But behind that tiny, dramatic voice is a fierce little fighter with an incredible story.

Elton was found all alone - abandoned by his mama, after his siblings were moved to another barn. At just 5 weeks old, he weighed only 11.7 oz, was severely dehydrated, and couldn’t smell well enough to find food. He most certainly would have died without intervention.

Thanks to a heroic foster rescue, Elton was brought in and immediately started receiving round-the-clock care - syringe feedings every few hours, fluids, B12, and lots of skin-to-skin cuddles so he could hear a heartbeat and remember he wasn’t alone. 💔

It took three full days before he could eat enough to survive. His foster mom Amy says he slept almost nonstop those first two days, only waking for feedings and care. The whole family - Amy, Craig, and River - took shifts to save him. (Though Elton has made it very clear he prefers Amy!)

He’s still small for his age, and insists on syringe feedings several times a day, he literally chases Amy around the house. Growth spurts hit hard - and when they do, so do the demands!

We joke that Elton is our Peter Pan - the kitten who refuses to grow up. But really, he’s a testament to what love, teamwork, and a whole lot of tiny feedings can do. ❤️‍🩹

🐾 Whisker Wednesday Feline Fun Fact 🐾

We're piggy-backing on last week’s fun fact regarding the many sounds cats/kittens make.

Did you know that kittens start vocalizing just days after birth - and their tiny cries are more than just cute (and sometimes, ear-piercing)? Those high-pitched mews are a built-in survival tool, helping them communicate hunger, discomfort, or the need for warmth. Kittens who are especially vocal, like our precious friend Elton, are often telling us something urgent - and this lil fella's cries may have saved his life. Stay tuned for his incredible rescue story! 💛

🐾 Introducing Miss Kitty & Her Babies 🐾

Miss Kitty’s story begins in Florence, where she wandered up to an RV and found kind people who began feeding her. A week later, they noticed her round belly and started to wonder - did she have kittens nearby?

Turns out, she did! Their neighbor discovered five tiny kittens hidden in the barn but couldn’t keep them there. Despite the wife being severely allergic, the RV family stepped up and made a temporary nest for them in a side storage bin, keeping it open so Miss Kitty could come and go to nurse.

Now safe in foster care, Miss Kitty is getting the support she needs. At first, she was more interested in soaking up human affection than feeding her babies - but with some extra calories (you could feel her spine when she first arrived), she’s come around beautifully.

We suspect she’s a young, inexperienced mom who was just trying to survive. But with food, love, and a safe place to land, she’s stepping up in the sweetest way. 💖

Stay tuned as her five little ones grow and Miss Kitty thrives.

After a late-night adventure, Susie and baby Angus found the perfect way to recharge: snuggled up and snoozing together. ❤️

Sometimes, rescue work means long hours, unexpected detours, and very sleepy mornings - but moments like this remind us why it’s all worth it.

Here’s to the people who show up at all hours, the tiny lives they hold close, and the power of a peaceful nap to start the week. 💤
