Beloved Office Manager and Hospital Cat of Rose Veterinary Hospital passed away of natural causes at a respectable age of 96 years (in human years) on January 14th, 2021. She was surrounded by a few of her loving caregivers.

Becky Cat was born in Canon City in 2001 and spent her formidable years in the loving care and home of her original servants, Mr. & Mrs. Guy Doublesday Sr. During her time with them she enjoyed spending her days wandering through the pasture and her night in a warm bed. She was somewhat spoiled and never had to work for a meal or affection.

After some health complications Becky Cat decided it was time to find a respectable career with impeccable health care benefits. It was then that she took a position at Rose Veterinary Hospital in 2010. She was a star employee and quickly moved through the ranks.

She earned the respect of her fellow co works who turned into her biggest fans. She worked hard... whether it be making certain that the clean dry towels stayed at an appropriate temperature until folded or making detailed additions to medical records after the doctors were too exhausted to type. He eloquently phrased additions of “jjjjjjjjjjjjsssssssssklaaaaaaaaaajxn” completed any unfinished medical record. She perfected this skill by simply laying on a warm keyboard, her co workers were astounded by this ability. She also was quite skilled in time management for the support staff. At the end of the day Becky would plant herself in the lap of support staff that were completing medical charts and SHE decided when you were done, this had nothing to do with whether the note was completed. We were all Becky Cat time.

She worked endless hours overseeing operations at the hospital and offering guidance wherever she was needed. She has a knack of knowing the perfect timing to crawl into the “on call bed” to comfort on call doctors when they stayed all night to attend to critical patients.

She had many day to day operations to attend to. She was in charge of the windowsill temperature... if it was not up to standards she would let her caregivers/ servants know! If you ever needed someone to talk she would happily have a conversation at the lunch table with you, while she smelled your food.

She spent her later years “yelling” at her bed, “yelling” at her water bowl to fill itself, and “yelling” at her step stool not being in the correct location, and letting all her servants know that she was not satisfied with their attendance to her .... this was noticed by other brand he’s of management... there maybe repercussions.

Becky has a unique way of rewarding the team that attended to her every need. If you were privileged enough she would allow you to rub her belly but would quickly let you know when it had been enough and attack your hand like a cat from the wild.

During her tenure with Rose Veterinary Hospital, Becky Cat has many servants.... I mean caregivers. But none that she loves more than Dr. Pamela Rose. Dr Rose ensured she had the best life of any kitty on the planet... Becky Cat thought she was “okay” but got the job done.

Becky Cat was the sweetest employee that Rose Veterinary has ever had and we will miss her terribly!!

Rose Veterinary Hospital

Introducing Ryder, he could use your help!

Ryder is a young, male Kelpie/ Cattle dog mix. He came to us in late October, 2020, by way of a local Good Samaritan, who found him and called in the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department. Ryder was left on the side of the road after being hit by a car in Florence, Colorado. Dr. Rose, of Rose Veterinary Hospital, was called in to provide emergency care in the middle of the night, in the hopes that the owners could be located. His injuries were severe, he had fractures on both the left front and right back leg. Due to these injuries he was unable to stand or walk. Unfortunately, once located the owners were unable to afford the care that he needed, and ultimately did the best thing for him and surrendered ownership to the Clinic.

Ryder quickly won the hearts of all who came into contact with him, and the staff at Rose Veterinary Hospital quickly went to work to try and save this sweet boy. With the extreme generosity of Colorado Canine Orthopedics, we were able to arrange for him to have surgery to repair his extreme fractures. He was rushed to Colorado Springs to receive the necessary procedure to save his life.

Since then, he has been recovering at the Rose Vet Hospital and working on rehabilitation. Our staff have worked tirelessly taking care of him and have donated their personal time to give him the best possible outcome. He has come a long way and is doing great!

Though we were able to receive a discount from the specialist, he did still incur a sizable balance. We are looking for any community members that would like to donate to help cover the cost of his surgery and ongoing care here at Rose Vet Hospital. Any amount would help. If you are able to donate you can contact Nichole for details at [email protected] or 719-275-1909 We also have started a GOFUNDME page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ryder-could-use-some-help?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1

A microchip can provide peace of mind if your pet is lost, and a single microchip will last your pets lifetime. They are only the size of a grain of rice and easy to implant. Please make sure to have your pet’s chip registered and keep your personal information current so if lost your pet can find their way home.

Our Story

What We’re All About…

Rose Veterinary Hospital offers a full range of veterinary services to care for your pet. We’ve listed some highlights of what we offer but if you don’t see what you’re looking for, please feel free to call and we’ll be glad to help you out. In addition to cats and dogs, we also see ferrets, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters and hedgehogs.

Since pets age about seven times faster than we do, it’s important to give them the best possible care they need at every life stage. We recommend annual wellness exams for pets of all ages as a preventative measure, with more frequent exams for senior pets. These exams can help detect serious conditions, allowing us to treat them in the early phases—before they become unmanageable.

By visiting us annually, you can discuss your pet’s future health outlook and ask questions about any existing conditions. Be sure to take note of any severe changes that have occurred with your pet, including vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, weight gain/loss, excessive thirst, or increased panting or aggression. If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms or has developed any abnormal behavior since their last wellness exam, please inform our veterinarians.

Thank you so much Rose Veterinary Hospital for getting our Summer girl in on such short notice today! It wasn't near the emergency we were worried it was, but you all took such good care of her and put our hearts and minds at ease! Thank you so much!!

Harley had her last chemo today, thank you Dr.Rose and staff for all your help.
On August 25th Dr. Rose and her staff helped our sweet girl Java Bean 16 years old cross the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Rose and her staff are so loving and caring. We will never use another vet again. We received a sympathy card from her and her staff last week with such heart felt notes from each staff member. We picked her ashes up today and brought her home forever.
Always there with extraordinary veterinary care...even my feral cats like them!
LOLOL I guess ROMALLLLL you do what you have to do with no masks out there.
