🌲🐕 Your dog may be your hiking buddy, but you need to be their emergency plan. 🐕🌲
When we head outdoors, we prepare ourselves with water, snacks, first aid supplies, and the right gear. Our pets deserve the same preparation.
Before your next adventure, pack a pet emergency kit:
🎒 Don't hit the trail without:
💧 Plenty of water for your dog
🍗 Food or high-value treats
🩹 Bandages, gauze, and wound care supplies
🐾 Paw protection for rough terrain
🦟 Tick removal tools
📱 A charged phone and trail information
🦮 Extra leash/collar
🐶 A rescue sling or carrier option in case your dog cannot walk out
Even the strongest dogs can get injured. A torn paw pad, broken nail, snake bite, heat exhaustion, or an unexpected fall can happen miles from the car.
A 70-pound dog that suddenly can't walk is not something most people can simply carry back to safety. Having a plan before you need it matters.
Before your next hike, ask yourself:
"How would I get my dog home if they couldn't walk?"
If you don't have an answer yet, it may be time to add emergency supplies to your adventure gear.
Stay safe. Stay prepared. Keep exploring together. 🐾🌿
