Two weeks ago our sweet Hayden crossed the Rainbow Bridge— suddenly, unexpectedly. We’re heartbroken.

A beautiful rainbow appeared in the afternoon sky two days after we picked up her remains. That night, my phone offered these two photos of her. And yesterday on a work trip, I found this little box with my birth stone.

We miss her terribly yet she is with us. Ever my sidekick, I'm trying to learn to navigate daily life without her by my side (almost always with a paw touching me).

Our girl IS a rainbow. 🌈

These two are struggling to reconnect. Basil is slow blinking at Hayden and not responding to Hayden’s persistent howling, growling, and hissing. But at least neither is showing any physical aggression and everyone slept in the same room last night so we’re ok.

After three and a half days in the hospital, our sweet girl is home. We’re getting her settled and will be slowly reintroducing her to her sister, but so far she seems to be doing pretty well. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes.
