Lynda's artistic journey began at a young age, influenced by her artist parents who ran Jon Pownall film company in Chicago. She did old school animation with her father and later attended the University of Mexico and Nazareth College. Her interest in metal-smithing and casting led her to meet Kurt. Lynda had created two dancing silver figures for stemware and wanted a glass chalice created for the 2nd goblet. This sparked a collaboration that led the couple to hang out at Bill Glasner's studio, where Kurt worked in the late '80s. Together, Lynda and Kurt began experimenting with different ideas. They opened their own studio in the early 1990s and created their first series of face statues. Their art glass evolved in complexity as the years went by. The collaboration between Kurt Carlson and Lynda Pownall-Carlson at Carlson Glassworks Studio, spanned from 1992 to 2017, is a testament to their mutual care and attention to detail. Their unique artistry is reflected in the multi-step process they developed and perfected over the years. The treasured personal collection of Carlson Glassworks art pieces through the years has been released to American Craftsman. https://www.anamericancraftsman.com/ 212.933.1296
