Proper milking technique is essential for animal health, milk hygiene, and productivity. The steps illustrated above show the correct way to hand-milk a cow:

1. Step 1

~Grasp the teat:
Wrap your thumb and forefinger around the top of the teat to trap the milk inside.

2. Step 2

~Close off the top:
Gently squeeze the top of the teat to prevent milk from flowing back up.

3. Step 3

~Squeeze down:
One by one, use the rest of your fingers to press down the teat, pushing the milk out.

4. Step 4
~Maintain rhythm:
Continue the motion rhythmically, alternating between teats for efficient milking.

5. Step 5

~Avoid pulling:
Never pull the teat – only squeeze gently to avoid injury.

☆Note:
Clean hands and udders are essential to avoid mastitis and ensure milk quality. Use warm water and a clean cloth before and after milking.
