This is Rambo! His guardians started working with me BEFORE they brought him home, which set him up for success. We formulated a potty training plan, set up their home for puppy proofing and made sure his mental and physical needs would be met. Today he knows: Sit, Touch, Down, Recall, Place, Stay, Leave it, Paw, Heel, Look at me, Go Potty, Wait and Bag. Working with puppies is super fun and provides me the opportunity to prevent behavior issues such as fear and reactivity from developing later on in the dogs' life.

I am so grateful that I possess all of the experience I have and I am excited to be applying it to higher education! Mulder was disappointed that the boxes that came in today were books and not chews for him... 🙃

I love when the universe sends me coincidences!! A few new lovely students this week. Marvin the bulldog, Leah the Bulldog, Jagger the St Bernard/Poodle Mix and.... Marvin the Bulldog! All wonderful dogs who are enjoying the start of their training journey!

This Monday (8/25) I am back to school! Working towards my Associate in Applied Science (Veterinary Technology). I am fortunate enough that I should be able to graduate "early" as I already have a few credits while studying through Unity college. This will be a step towards my goal of becoming a board certified veterinary behaviorist.

I have been working virtually with Natalie and Tootie for a couple of months now. Natalie was originally a referral for reactivity to sounds (redirecting dangerously when she heard sirens, fireworks, etc). Through systematic desensitization, careful counter conditioning and fun training (building her confidence) Natalie has come a long way and now will look to her mother for a reward instead of panicking when she hears a triggering sound. Her sister Tootie has recently joined in on the training and is building her confidence as well. Sweet Tootie was a rescue who was so afraid of life she lived under her guardians' deck for months before trusting her. I am so proud of these girls and their guardian, Wendy, who has put in countless hours of work and love. Their "sister" Juliette also joins in on the training and has helped the girls become their best selves as well. The most amazing part about all of this is that I have never stepped foot in their home... as I mentioned, this has all been done virtually. A true testament to virtual training and the benefits it can have for fearful dogs.

Big News: Mulder is in his first remission!!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜 He is currently napping at my side after our trip down to Stamford for his treatment today. He will continue treatment in Newtown in 2 weeks (Newtown is much closer to me as I was driving 4.5-5 hrs each week to Stamford). Mulder the Mighty!
