We will NOT be tracking this weekend.

I went to deer camp and left Mable at home to rest.

I thought one day of rest was enough but she was very sluggish tracking today.

Two solid days of rest will do the ol girl good.

While she is resting I will be focusing on my family and getting the kiddos opportunity to tag a deer.

Everyone be safe and enjoy the best weekend of the year!

The text any tracker dreads…

“Found Him”

We have been doing this for 6 years but still make mistakes. If a professional trackers says they have never left one dead then they are either lying or havnt tracked enough.

It happens. It sucks.

Nothing you can do but pull your boot straps tight and move on to the next.

We apologize to the hunter for not finding this one.

Mable had one of the most important recoveries of her career this evening!

My son Madden made a “not so good” shot on a nice deer tonight.

Mable absolutely smoked the 466 yard track and was standing over the deer in no time.

Thank you Jesus!

If anyone read my “track to a gut pile” from yesterday, it all turned out great!

The hunter who found the deer noticed it dead near his hunting spot yesterday afternoon. He reached out to conservation and obtained permission to remove it while he searched for the rightful owner.

The hunter contacted all neighbors and stopped other out of state hunters to see if they had shot the deer.

When he hadn’t heard anything by yesterday afternoon he started quartering the deer up as to salvage the meat.

The hunting party that shot the deer contacted their local agent yesterday evening to see if he had any leads. He was able to get them in contact with the hunter who removed the deer off of the property, who gladly offered them the meat and head back.

Since the hunter had already put in a lot of work quartering and processing, the out of state hunters let him keep the meat.

The shooter tagged the buck and is now after a doe to take home.

Love when stories like this have a happy ending. Congrats to the out of state hunter on your first trip to Missouri!

Queen Mable went 2/3 today (kinda).

Track #1 was a doozy. We ended up locating the deer still alive 25 hours post shot. Luckily the hunter was able to sneak up and put a follow up shot on him.

Track #2 was another doozy. Tracked a liver shot buck that had preciously been bumped. Mable ran a great line and took us right to a fresh gut pile. After examining, we found the liver in the gut pile to have a 3 blade broadhead hole. We did do a perimiter search three times to ensue our deer didnt run over this pile. The hunters are checking in with the landowner to see if we can find info on who found the deer.

Track #3 was for a large buck. Hit was high and we were hopeful he would keep pumping blood. Mable’s second line was accurate through a cut bean field. Unfortunately the deer clotted up and vanished. I believe he is likely chasing does as I am typing this.

Already have tracks lined up tomorrow.

Getting after it! 👊🏻👊🏻

Queen Mable got it done!

Long story short.

Two tracks on same farm. One fatal, one non fatal.

Non fatal tracked 3/4 mile before bumping alive.

Non fatal crossed fatal’s scent line.

Fatal bedded 9 times and backtracked.

Jumped alive at 20 hours.

Came back 2.5 hours later and found him dead in his next bed.

Congrats to the hunter and good job Queen Mable. 👊🏻👊🏻

Queen Mable was able to help some friends out today!

We got the call that they smoked a deer this morning but could not find it. Generally we don’t get calls for smoked deer but after speaking with them the hunter was confident it was a fatal shot. They lost blood after a ways and weren’t able to locate the deer.

Mable arrived and was able to locate the deer not too far from where the hunters lost blood. He was indeed “smoked” but somehow made it 590 yards and bled internally most of the way.

It is insane how tough these deer are!

Congrats to the hunter! Always good to catch up with friends!

It’s officially ZOMBIE deer season where deer that should be dead are alive.

Tracked this deer on Thursday (10/30) of last week.

Deer was shot the evening if 10/29.

We arrived 18 hours after the shot. Mable quickly tracked a couple hundred yards to 3 beds where the deer clotted up.

After that she indicated this wasn’t a dead deer.

Because the hunter was so confident where he hit the deer I checked the entire timber to be sure (covered over 4 miles).

The hunter hit the deer exactly where he thought.

Not sure how this one is still standing and looking healthy. But as usual Mable was right.

We are out of Commision today and unable to track.

We will be at our family farm this weekend for youth so I will be tracking mid day and after dark only and will have limited openings.

Stay safe and get a kiddo out this weekend! 👊🏻👊🏻

Second longest recovery ever!

Queen Mable ran a brilliant track that ended with a dead deer 2.08 miles from the shot site.

The deer was hit low and back Wednesday night. We arrived at the 18 hour mark thinking this would be a simple track. We were wrong. 😑

Mable locked on and went across hundreds of yards of open Ag with no blood to be seen.

The deer passed ponds, draws, and creeks and never went where we expected.

I suspect coyotes got on him shortly after the shot.

Congrats to the hunter on a great buck!
