New England Dog Training Club

New England Dog Training Club NEDTC is a non-profit AKC-affiliated dog training club dedicated to positive training of ALL dogs (and their people) in the Cambridge and Boston area.

We welcome puppies, beginners and advanced obedience competitors to train with us on Thursday nights! We are the oldest AKC obedience club in the country. We strive to help you make the bond between you and your dog stronger with science-based, positive reinforcement methods. We offer puppy classes, steps classes for basic and competition obedience, have a strong membership, and offer competition obedience classes (Rally, Novice, Open and Utility).

BUTLER, Pa. — Dakota, a 3 ½-year-old Australian shepherd mix, bounced into the ring, her tail wagging. She poked her nose into a prickly straw bed and raced over a tall pile of rough bales. Then, darting toward a back corner, she began shredding the straw with her paws.

Happy 90th Anniversary NEDTC!

NEDTC is the oldest, the first AKC dog training club in our country, and it has a rich history!

Since 1936, NEDTC has been approved by the AKC to run Obedience, Tracking, and recently Scent Work trials.

Tracking started at NEDTC under the guidance of Ruth Ridings, a former long-time instructor, judge, and author of the tracking guide still being used, and a club member of NEDTC.

Scent Work was approved by the AKC due to the hard work of Diane Kurkjian, among others, a former training director and current instructor. Diane has facilitated our recent Scent Work trials, which are helping to bring in some greatly needed funds.

Please join me in mentioning people you appreciate, present and past, and memories precious to you!
