An Important Update from Cambridge Veterinary Care

Cambridge Veterinary Care is merging with Winter Hill Veterinary Clinic in Somerville. Our Cambridge location’s final day of appointments will be on September 11, 2026.

We’re pleased to share that Dr. Kayala and the team will be joining Winter Hill and continuing to care for patients there. For many Cambridge clients, that means you’ll have the opportunity to continue your pet’s care with familiar faces you already know and trust.

At Winter Hill, they’ll join a longstanding local team offering comprehensive veterinary services, including excellent dental care. We encourage you to check out Winter Hill Veterinary Clinic's page to meet the team and get to know the practice!

If Arlington is more convenient, Mill Brook Animal Clinic is another nearby option available to Cambridge clients.

Medical Records: To request a copy of your pet’s medical records or have them sent to another veterinary hospital, please email [email protected]. We encourage you to submit your request as early as possible.

Prescriptions & Online Pharmacy: Cambridge Veterinary Care’s online pharmacy will permanently close on November 30, 2026, at which time all active prescriptions through the online pharmacy will be discontinued. Our ability to manage third-party pharmacy requests will also be limited, so we recommend using Winter Hill Veterinary Clinic’s online pharmacy for your pet’s prescription needs. Current Cambridge online pharmacy clients will receive additional instructions to help transition their pet’s prescriptions to Winter Hill.

Not every ear problem starts with obvious pain.

If your pet is frequently shaking their head, scratching at their ears, or avoiding touch around their head, it may be more than a minor irritation.

Watch for signs like:

👂 Redness
👂 Unpleasant odor
👂 Discharge
👂 Excessive scratching
👂 Sensitivity when touched

🐾 Scratching isn’t the only sign your pet may be uncomfortable.

Many itchy pets actually show more subtle symptoms like paw licking, head shaking, scooting, rubbing against furniture, or excessive grooming. Some pets may even develop redness, hot spots, or hair loss over time.

While occasional scratching can be normal, persistent irritation may point to allergies, skin infections, parasites, or other underlying conditions.
