Michele Hoffman is one of those rare individuals who puts her money where her mouth is, and more importantly, where her heart is. Like us, she promises the cats that come to her that they will always be cared for. Unlike us, she exclusively takes in special needs cats who often have medical needs that can run quite high. She has poured all of her time, love, and money into helping these kitties, and now she needs our help.

For this reason, Purrmaid will be donating all of its tip money through the end of August to Milo’s Sanctuary.

Hi - this is Michele and I know it’s a long post but please read it. Milo’s is close to being no more.

Hi, this is Michele Hoffman and I am the President and Founder of Milo’s Sanctuary, Inc. I never thought I would have to write something like this but I have tried everything in my power to keep Milo’s Sanctuary going but I’m at the end of what I can do at this point in my life. I’ve given almost all of my retirement, paychecks and other monetary donations to Milo’s Sanctuary and I have nothing left in my accounts.
 
We are currently struggling, and I mean struggling to meet the day-to-day finances that keep this Sanctuary running and the animals safe. That is why I’m asking all of you to help, the idea of Milo’s closing and these beautiful babies having nowhere else to go is ripping my heart out every day. We have tightened our belts, have been downsizing as we can and have not taken in any new cats and have no intention of doing so at this time.
 
As many of you know I just had a video come out with AARP and it has gone viral, I was praying it would find new donors but so far nothing has come of it. We don’t have corporate sponsors, celebrity sponsors or big donors like many of the large rescues and humane society’s local to Southern California do. We rely on our friends and followers. We have tried over the years to get corporations, celebrities or big donors interested in what we do but it has never happened.

It’s embarrassing and makes me sick to my stomach to have to write this but in order to save all the angels we have in our care I do this for them.

Here they are, this week’s naughty and nice cats. Nice cat of the week is Molly, who decided to launch an ad campaign to better leverage the cafe. Way to go, little strategist! 📊 Naughty cat of the week is Athena, who decided being on time-out meant she could take over cat dad’s favorite chair. You little stinker! 😈

We were able to get Viva a vet appointment this afternoon. One side of her tongue and mouth is very inflamed. She’s going back in the morning for testing. Poor girl!🧡🧡🧡

Little Viva la Fiesta is sad. She was adopted but returned because she was mean to her brother cat. When she returned to the cafe, her bff Kismet had been adopted, and two other female cats started bullying her. She was doing some concerning self-harm behaviors, so we decided to pull her and bring her to the house. We’ll be taking her to the vet to rule out any possible illnesses this week. And, we’re giving her all the TLC in the world. 🥺🥺🥺

Athena is taking a break from the cafe for a little while. Her bullying the shy cats was getting out of hand, and she was also becoming angry with visitors who paid attention to cats other than herself. We’re hoping a few classes at The Kent Charm School for Bratty One-Year Olds will do the trick. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛
