Did you know 4th of July is the WORST time of the year for Lost Dogs! They panic, escape, get lost, and often hit, injured or killed by cars. They break out of fencing, jump through windows and even off 2nd story balconies. Many new adopters have no idea how their dog (or cat) will react to fireworks so you should assume and prepare for the worst.
Start by having collars with tags and contact info on your dogs!
Get a cheap collar at the dollar stores! Grab a sharpie and write your number on if you don't have a tag!
A simple collar and phone number can also save you $$ in reclaim fees from the shelter (if you are in a shelter area) but most important it will help get your dog or cat returned to you quicker if found!
Don't let your dog become a statistic. Keep them safe!
For those with dogs that are not bothered by fireworks, you are very lucky and this message is not for you but could help someone else you know.
Thank you! The Dog Days Search & Rescue team.๐พ
