345 DAYS. That's how long Ruffles has been waiting for someone to choose her.
November 2025. Potato Chip Road. Two dogs abandoned and left behind.
One was a mama named Ruffles. The other was her daughter.
Her daughter has long since found her forever home, but somehow, 345 days later, our sweet Ruffles is still waiting for hers.
And we can't help but wonder… is it because she’s a pittie?
October is Pit Bull Awareness Month, and we can't think of a better girl to help us show the world why these dogs deserve so much more than the stereotypes that follow them.
Ruffles is approximately 4 years old, and if you ask us, she's pretty close to perfect in her own wonderfully goofy way!
She's got a little sass, a whole lot of personality, and a heart that just wants someone to love.
Ruffles gets the occasional burst of energy where she's ready to play and show off her spunky side, but most of the time? She's perfectly content being a professional couch potato. Give this girl a comfy spot, some toys, a few treats, and someone willing to rub her belly, and she's living her best life!
She LOVES attention, gives the sweetest kisses, and would happily spend her days snuggled up next to her favorite human. Belly rubs are her absolute weakness!
She's a little bossy sometimes, but she listens well and knows her basic commands. She's kennel trained, potty trained, and has done well with other dogs when given proper introductions. Cats, however, are not her cup of tea, so she'll need a kitty-free home.
Her leash manners are still a work in progress. Once that nose hits the ground, she's on a mission, and sometimes she forgets there's a human attached to the other end of the leash!
But that's Ruffles. She's funny, affectionate, stubborn in the most entertaining ways, and full of love. Once attached to her people, we’ve learned she may show some stranger danger if we don’t introduce and give her the okay. She’s always warmed up quickly to visiting families and we will be there for any meets!
And after 345 days, we think she's earned the right to be a little spoiled.
Here's what breaks our hearts.
Ruffles has watched other dogs come and go. She's watched families find their new best friends. She's watched her own daughter get the happy ending they both deserve.
And still, she waits.
Not because she's a bad dog. Not because she doesn't have love to give. But because sometimes the dogs who need us most are the ones people overlook.
Ruffles doesn't know about breed stereotypes. She doesn't know why someone might walk past her kennel without giving her a chance.
She just knows that when someone stops to love on her, it's the best part of her day.
She deserves to experience that feeling every single day, in a home of her very own.
So this Pit Bull Awareness Month, we're asking you to look beyond the label. Meet the dog. Learn her personality. Give her the chance to show you who she really is.
Because Ruffles is so much more than a breed.
She's a belly-rub-loving, kiss-giving, treat-obsessed, slightly bossy, wonderfully lazy girl who has spent far too long waiting for someone to call her family.
345 days is long enough.
