I love that AHA is taking steps to keep track of registered horses! We have have pulled many half Arabs from auction, and often it’s been impossible to track down past owners or registration papers. Our precious Moxie being a prime example. She went through several auctions before coming to us, and the only information that we have so far been able to get is the auction she was at before the one we bought her at. She was bought by someone running an auction in Geary, OK and then sent to an auction in Jones, OK a few days later. That’s the last of the information we have, and because she was a 1/2 Arab yearling, she would not have DNA file.
This new rule is going to be a game changer!
Starting January 1, 2026, all Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses with a Purebred Arabian parent will require DNA testing for registration.
Why? Just as your Purebred Arabian’s parentage is verified and valued, confirming your Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian’s lineage ensures the identity and legacy of your horse.
This simple step helps protect your horse’s heritage and gives you confidence in the accuracy of its registration, because every horse deserves to have its story told correctly.
For the quickest turnaround, submit your complete registration application and DNA hair sample promptly to ensure a seamless registration beginning in 2026.
