I am posting this poem in honor of Tim Van Noord, who passed into the presence of the perfect Word and source of all poetry on this day one year ago. I had the privilege of listening to poet Czeslaw Milosz read this in person in English and his native Polish, and it was mesmerizing and unearthly….so I know I fell far from doing it justice when I read it to Tim. Nevertheless, Tim asked me to read it again and again. Oh my sweet friend, If only I could pick your brain now …. What divine poetry you must be enjoying! May our earthly ears ever be tuned to the good spirit’s prompting. Miss you.

Delayed Christmas celebration at the farm last night—; I gave my kids a bunch of books, as any good English-teacher-homeschool-mother does these days, right?!? They were thrilled! ;) And they indulged me when I asked them to read aloud with me the first three chapters of this great classic, as the author himself intended. Dickens understood the power of words, and family, and community, ….and the need we all have to be ‘Recalled to life.” If you have never read this, go get a copy now. If you’ve read it and it’s on your shelf, dust it off and read it again, aloud, to someone else, maybe someone who can’t hold a book anymore. It is the best Christmas story ever….the laying down of one’s power, one’s authority, one’s very life for another. Divine food for the soul, and music to the ears. Enjoy! (Oh, and there WILL be a test next week.🤣 🤣🤣)
