Day 12 with Bear. It's too dang hot to ride before about 8pm. We rode two and a half miles or so, our longest ride yet. The donkeys still freak him out, but he's getting better walking past the 5' culvert under the highway. For such a big boy, he spooks at the most random things.

When I first met him, he seemed just enormous. 17.3 is big, but his girth is 92" as well. A funny thing is happening; he just seems normal to me now. All the other horses here have gotten smaller.

Who can pay 18-20k for a groomer and 500 gal water tank combo? We bought a 500 gal tank, some 2" pvc and valves, and used a Harbor Freight pump and a trailer we already had. It works quite well.

Bear's breeder sent me this: Bear at 1 month old. What a cutie!

Jared Ashcraft and I got back last night with a pair of Belgians from The Rees Family Belgians in WA. They are the most wonderful people I've met in a long time. Bear is our new Mascott at SRS. Driven in a 6 horse team for 9 years, pastured for 3, never ridden, and took a saddle and rider like he'd done it 100 times.

Be careful on HorseClicks. Some kook just tried to scam me with a fake ad. I can't imagine what it would be like to lie and steal for a living. How could you have any self esteem? At first I was a bit angry, but now upon reflection, I just pity the guy.
