🩷 Emmy’s Journey 🛣️ Please Read!
This girl has had quite the challenging life so far, but it doesn’t get her down. About a year ago, Emmy found herself at a high euthanasia shelter in NC. An incredible foster stepped up to help save her and we quickly brought her into rescue. Emmy was quick to learn the ropes of living indoors, being crate trained and getting socialized! This girl seemed to have a great skill set to make her a wonderful addition to any family 🥰
Unfortunately, Emmy’s Adoptive home was not the best fit over time. She was exposed to young children who were allowed to invade her space and over time, Emmy developed concerning behavior. Instead of the Adopter returning her to us for proper assessment, she was once again dumped into a shelter and it was recommended that she be euthanized per the feedback from her adopter 💔
Thankfully, Emmy's Micro-chip still had our rescue as a secondary contact and the shelter notified us. We knew something wasn't right. 🤨 How could this once so sweet girl have such a change in behavior?
Emmy was immediately picked up from the shelter and placed into a board and train program with Carolina Dog Training & Advocacy.
🌟Emmy worked on and has been trained on the following:
▪️Basic Commands: sit, lay, place and leash manners!
▪️ Crate Training: Emmy is very food motivated and she has learned that her crate is her safe space through introducing interactive toys/treats!
▪️ Socialization: Emmy has been out and about in public spaces and has learned not to be fearful of others and is not reactive towards other dogs on walks. She has also been resocialzed with children, and she’s become the most gentle girl with older children.
🎙️ A word from Emmy’s Trainer!
“Emmy is an extremely toy and food motivated dog that LOVES to play, but is also content to have a lazy, quiet day at home. She's truly a dog that is up for just about anything, making her an ideal fit as an apartment dog or for someone that owns their own home. Emmy has been exposed to other dogs, but would do best as an only dog or with a lower energy dog companion! To ensure that Emmy stays successful, I’m offering lifetime support and a virtual session after adoption to help Emmy settle into her new forever home!”
🚨 Our rescue has invested over $1,000 into Emmy through Training and now Boarding. Her boarding is costing $175/week and though this girl is 100% worth every penny… it’s causing us to have to turn away other dogs in need.
Emmy deserves her forever home and she is more than equipped to be the bestest girl. Though an adopter would be ideal, Emmy is also in URGENT need of a foster so we can use our funds for other dogs in need instead of boarding costs.
