Empowering Pawz Rescue is excited to be joining Paws-Ability BandFest 2026 this Sunday, June 7th from 12:00–5:00 PM at Sunset Beach Town Park! ☀️

Monday’s with our girl Dixie 💖🐾

Okay y’all… Miss Dixie had a BLAST at Dog Days and she was honestly a little star ⭐️ Like… the kind of pup people stop for, laugh at, and immediately go “she’s SO cute!” 😍

She soaked up the attention, loved meeting people, and made herself right at home like she’s done this a hundred times 😂🤍

BUT… she’s still here. Still waiting. Still looking for her forever. And we truly don’t get it. 🥺

💞 A Foster Fail 🔟 Years in the Making 💞

There is no better way to start June than with an incredible foster fail story! 🙌🏼

After spending nearly EIGHT years in a shelter, our sweet girl Kalli finally got her chance at freedom. Over the last year, she has thrived with Carol and Steve, completing professional training, building confidence, and most importantly, finding her people.

The bond these three have built is undeniable, and we’re thrilled to share that Kalli is officially adopted! 🎉

Some dogs wait longer than others, but Kalli’s story is proof that the right family is worth waiting for. After eight years, countless advocates, and one amazing foster family, she finally has the forever home she always deserved.

Congratulations, Carol, Steve, and Kalli! We couldn’t be happier for all of you. ❤️🐾

🖤🤍🐾 Oreo’s confidence is showing… and it’s the best thing to watch.

If you saw Oreo out at Dog Days, you saw a totally different boy than the one who first came into foster. He’s still shy, yes… but he showed up, took it in, and did SO good. That’s huge for him. 🥹✨

Oreo is about 4 -5 months old, we think a shepherd mix, and he’s expected to be on the larger side - basically a big teddy bear in the making 🧸🤍

And this boy is a smart cookie 🍪👏
🛏️ doing great with crate training
🛎️ ringing the bell to go outside and potty
🤍 went from scared of people to now allowing cuddles (major win)

He’s come so far… now we just need the part where someone finally says “you’re coming home with me.” 🏡🐾

📰 LONG POST ALERT - BUT WORTH THE READ! 😍

✨ DOG DAYS OF SUMMER 2026 ✨

🥹 We are still trying to find the words this morning.

Yesterday was our biggest Dog Days of Summer yet, and to say we are grateful would be an understatement. From the vendors, sponsors, volunteers, fosters, adopters, donors, and every single person who came out to support rescue dogs… THANK YOU. ❤️

Because of this incredible community, we raised 💥 $2,115 💥 through raffles and donations alone! 🤯

As a 100% volunteer-run rescue, every single dollar makes a direct impact on the dogs we save. It helps provide vet care, food, supplies, heartworm treatment, transportation, and second chances for dogs that need us most. 🙏🏼

What started out as a little dream from our Rescue Owner 3 years ago, to seeing the outpour of support and love in such a short time is absolutely incredible. Seeing our community come together for a common cause is something we never take for granted. 🫂

We also want to give a HUGE shoutout to the amazing local businesses and vendors who spent their Saturday with us. These small businesses are the heartbeat of our community, and we encourage everyone to continue supporting them long after the event is over. Shopping local truly makes a difference. 💝 Taylor Made Custom Jewelry of Southport, NC - If y’all know Stephanie, you know what a BIG heart she has. She started her own business about a year ago and through a lot of hard work, she is KILLING it. Every piece of jewelry she’s tailored to her clients has had a portion of proceeds that Stephanie GRACIOUSLY donated to us yesterday - $750! And when you own a small business, that’s a lot to give! Churro is a petite 5–6 month old lab mix and she’s that perfect mix of sweet + shy + silly 😄💛

A few Churro things:
🎶 she has a tiny little “singing” voice (it’s honestly adorable)
🐶 she LOVES other dogs - would do amazing with a confident dog buddy
🙈 she can be a little shy with new people at first, but give her a minute and she melts
🏠 house trained
🛏️ crate trained

She’s not the puppy that bulldozes into your life… she’s the one who slowly wiggles her way in, and before you know it you’re like “oh… yep. I love you.” 🥹🤍🐾

🥹I don’t think there are enough words for today.

If you’ve noticed our social media has been unusually quiet today, it’s because we’re still sitting here in complete AWE of today’s event. 🙌🏼

Every year, we hope Dog Days of Summer will be special. Every year our community somehow exceeds everything we could possibly wish for. 🙏🏼

Today…
🐾 We watched complete strangers stop to learn about rescue.
✨ We watched children fall in love with puppies.
💪 We watched supporters show up carrying donations.
🛍️ We watched vendors spend their day supporting a cause they believe in.
🎟️ We watched sponsors invest in second chances.
🫂 We watched volunteers give their time, their energy, and their hearts.

And we watched a community rally around rescue in a way that left us emotional more than once. 🥹🥹

For those who don’t know, rescue can be heavy. There are days filled with heartbreak, impossible decisions, urgent phone calls, and wondering how we’re going to make it all work. Then a day like today happens. 🙌🏼

☀️ A day that reminds us why we keep showing up.

🥰 A day that reminds us that we are not doing this alone.

🙏🏼 A day that reminds us there are so many people standing beside us, cheering for these dogs, believing in second chances, and helping us make the impossible possible.

To every vendor, sponsor, volunteer, foster, adopter, donor, supporter, and every person who simply came out and spent part of their day with us… thank you. You may never fully understand the impact you made, but we promise the dogs will.

Tonight we’re putting our phones down, soaking it all in, and letting our hearts catch up with the day. 😍

Tomorrow we’ll share the photos, the numbers, the thank-yous, and all the exciting updates.

But tonight, we just want to say this:

We are incredibly grateful.

And we are so lucky to call this community ours. ❤️🐾
