🎉🥳 Happy 1-Year Anniversary, Dr. Ogrodny! 🥳🎉

Today we’re celebrating one year with our incredible Internist, Dr. Ogrodny! His dedication, knowledge, and compassion have made such an impact on our patients, clients, and team.

One of our thoughtful clients even brought in a cake and a tiara to mark the occasion. And of course, if the crown fits...👑

We’re so grateful to have him (and his amazing Internal Medicine team) as part of AESH. Here’s to many more years of teamwork, learning, and helping pets together!

It's not often that we get direct patient feedback like this 🤩🤩🤩-

"It’s me, Koa the bulldog! The other night I was a big ol’ puddle of drool, sleepy eyes, and zero wiggles. My family was extremely worried, and honestly, I was too tired to even give them my best cuddles.

Then YOU came along with your magic pokes and potions (ahem, “nausea meds”) and saved the day! Now I’m back to doing my happy tippy-tap dances, wiggly butt shakes, and yes… giving all of them the extra kisses and snuggles.

Thank you for taking care of me. My family and I think you’re amazing!

With gratitude,
Koa Gregoria McPherson 💖✨"

Guiness, a one-year-old Irish Wolfhound, gave his mom quite a scare after eating a sandal. He came to us for surgery to remove it and thankfully made a smooth recovery. 💙

Our nurses and assistants like to say they don’t have favorites but… it’s pretty hard not to fall in love with this gentle giant. 🥰

We’re so glad to see Guinness back on his paws and doing well!

We’re so proud of our very own Surgery LVT, Kelsey, and our board-certified Surgeon, Dr. Jones, who recently volunteered with RAVS (Rural Area Veterinary Services)!

RAVS is an incredible organization that provides access to veterinary care for communities facing geographic isolation and systemic poverty. Each summer, they travel to multiple Indigenous communities to provide no-cost spay/neuter, emergency surgical services, and wellness care for cats and dogs.

This past week, Kelsey and Dr. Jones joined RAVS on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in Mission, South Dakota, where the team performed 219 surgeries and saw 273 additional patients for wellness care! 💙

Alongside the hands-on care, RAVS also hosts veterinary student volunteers, giving them invaluable experience in surgery and anesthesia. Kelsey played a key role in teaching anesthetic problem-solving, while Dr. Jones guided students step by step through their very first surgeries, from first incision to final closure.

We are so inspired by the dedication of our team members and the impact they’re making, not just here at AESH, but in communities across the country. 💙🐾

When R***r wasn’t eating, playing, or acting like himself, his family knew something was wrong. An x-ray revealed a very suspicious “ball-shaped” object in his stomach… and sure enough, it was a ball!

Our doctors performed surgery to remove it, and R***r was quickly on the mend.

Swipe to see R***r’s “before” photos in the hospital and his joyful “after” photos back at home being his silly, happy self! 🥰

His mama shared the sweetest message with us:
"I want to say thank you to your doctors and team nurses for making our boy better. Life would be way too different without him. We appreciate all your dedication ❤️"

We’re so glad R***r is back to living his best life! 💕

🩸 ITP in Dogs: Understanding the Signs & Treatment

Meet Nox! A brave pup who came to us a couple of weeks ago with concerning symptoms of bleeding in his eyes and mouth. After a thorough evaluation by our ER team and criticalist, Dr. Harmon, we diagnosed Nox with Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition where the immune system attacks the body’s platelets.

During his stay, Nox found comfort snuggling up with our team, resting his head on one of our team members’ legs in his kennel. His sweet spirit and strength kept us all going as we worked to get him feeling better.

Thanks to early intervention and the dedication of our team, Nox is already feeling much better and back home with his family! 💙

If you notice unusual bleeding or bruising in your dog, it’s important to seek veterinary care immediately.

We had such a great time with our new friends at Lovet Pet Health Care in Standale!

Our visit included a discussion on emergency stabilization — how to act quickly and effectively in those critical first moments — followed by a hands-on CPR refresher for the team.

It was wonderful to connect, share knowledge, and work together to help pets get the best care possible when every second counts. 🐾

Future ER heroes in training! 🚑🐾

We had such a great time inspiring the next generation of animal care professionals! Dr. Magolan, Dr. Barscewski, and some of our awesome AESH crew visited the Humane Society’s middle school Vet Camp to share what it’s like to be an emergency veterinarian or veterinary nurse. The campers learned about the fast-paced world of ER medicine and how teamwork, compassion, and quick thinking save lives every day.

We had such a great time inspiring the next generation of animal care professionals! Thank you Humane Society of West Michigan for having us!! 🤩
