Saving Furry Friends,Inc

Saving Furry Friends,Inc We have been rescuing animals since 1994 & officially founded in 2003. We are a 501 c3 dedicated to the rescue of senior/disabled pets.

Over the years our rescue has taken in and rehomed over 3000 animals and while we will continue our mission it will be at a much much slower pace. This has upset some people and for that we are truly sorry however it is time for us to slow down and let the younger rescuers take the reigns. It is time for us to balance life, work and rescue. thanks for your support

Situated on 25 acres, Saving F

urry Friends, is both a rescue and sanctuary, We are dedicated to saving shelter dogs (and cats) whose time has run out as well as senior horses, donkeys, pigs and goats. Currently we have an average of 200 animals per year coming to us from area shelters. Our adoptable animals are mainly placed into one of our foster homes, while the older/disabled animals reside here at the rescue. We rescue and care for abandoned and abused pets and strive to find loving forever homes where they can thrive. Many of the companion animals that we rescue are literally minutes from death. They may be strays, owner surrenders, abuse cases, or have medical problems but the one thing they all have in common is that they are society's throw-a ways and without rescue, they have no chance! As a sanctuary, we provide long-term love and care to animals deemed unadoptable; either because of age, medical issues or behavioral issues. They are our Sanctuary Residents. While providing care for pets and finding forever homes for them is our main focus, we are also committed to informing the public about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets, thus reducing the number of unwanted animals that end up in already over crowded shelters.

Super urgent!! CA, van nuys “Rollie” blind senior miniature poodle mix

Seven long days ago this bereft likely BLIND Grandpa doggy was “left at the shelter”.
It’s not clear if whoever, whether it was the “guardian“ or a misguided “Good Samaritan“ who abandoned him, even brought him inside to ensure that he would be protected from the elements and predators😞.
This is adorable ❤️ROLLIE❤️ the miniature Poodle mix and he is ten years old and a bit too thin at 14.4 lbs (BCS 4 with 5 being ideal). Frankly, I am surprised he is neutered because the miserable NEGLECT, inside and out, is really depressing. Rollie is on Blue Alert at East Valley, a dangerous shelter in Los Angeles, SoCal.
I can see his Alert being raised.
But Rollie is flying under the radar and we are not even prepared to save him🚨.
Rollie with the perfect heart shaped nose was booked in as an unkempt “stray” with mats behind his beautiful ears on 2/18/25. His nails were so long the impound staff immediately trimmed them and he would benefit from a grooming. Rollie has missing lower incisors and gum recession on the remaining ones. From the beginning, it was apparent that Rollie, who has bilateral cataracts, is visually challenged. When placed on the floor he would strike some objects but have near misses on others. The shelter vet wrote that Rollie may have some vision but acts more blind. On top of that, there was (or is) a slow, horizontal, bilateral nystagmus (twitching of the eyes seen in some neurological events) but no head tilt or ataxia.
Rollie is in the medical ward. He has been observed sleeping, standing up and sitting down. Mostly Rollie has been quiet. It’s not charted, but I have two photos and in both there’s discharge from his eyes or fur staining under the eyes. Dear Rollie has an entry that he likes wet food but another time did not eat and turned his food tray upside down. Yesterday he had some diarrhea.
I am worried that this whole situation is going south.
Older, delicate dogs don’t belong in shelters.
No one does❤️‍🩹.
Life has NOT been kind to Rollie. In fact, it’s been extremely unfair. But surely there has to be some compassion in the world for precious dogs like Rollie.
He deserves so much better.
After all the BETRAYALS Rollie has endured it would be a disgraceful tragedy to allow Rollie, who was thrown away like trash, to DISAPPEAR without having the happy sunset time that all seniors deserve💔.
Thank you.
