If you're looking to elevate your breeding program consider this stunning bay roan stallion "Awesome Roan Bar." Mason, is an 8 year old (2017), AQHA/NFQHA (88%), 6 panel negative, 1200 #, experienced herd stallion. Mason stands a stout 14.2hh with natural muscling. His foals mature
to 15hh and feature elegant heads and compact conformation. While he does not carry the gray, silver, or cream gene, he stamps a variety of color and chrome on all of his foals. His genetic color testing through University of California, Davis consists of E/eAARn/N (Black and red factors detected, black pigment restricted to the points, and 1 copy of roan.) Awesome Roan Bar is a balanced, powerful horse, with heavy bone structure, round hip, and kind eye.
Mason has a gentle demeanor and is easy to handle with mares. He is firm enough to control a more dominant mare and a gentleman around submissive mares and foals. Mason respects his handler and will collect on a phantom, hand breed, and pasture breed. Mason goes back to foundation working ranch horse / cow lines that are bred for a hard days work. He is sired by Awesome Roany x Copper Jax Lady of the Hetletved Quarter Horse Ranch in Robinson, North Dakota. His pedigree represents 25% High Rolling Roany, 12.5% Mr Pete Oswald, 12.5% Oswald Pete, 9.37% Oswald, and 9.37% Apple Jax. These ranch horses were bred for cow sense, not nonsense. They have an renowned ability to handle themselves in rough terrain and think for themselves. This is a trait he passes on to his foals, in addition to a charismatic, curious, and trainable mind.
Although he has been ridden, I would consider him inexperienced as a riding horse. He is ridden yearly on the property and has not been shown. His foals are eligible through the Rocky Mountain Breeders Association Stallion Stakes Incentives. Mason is uncomplicated in his handling, he catches, leads, loads, ties, trailers, bathes, and handles his feet with ease. He is solid with groundwork and straightforward to saddle and bridle. He is respectful of fences, although, Mason knows he is a stallion and would prefer to be pastured with his mares or by himself instead of with other stallions or geldings.
Mason is being offered to a new home where he can continue his legacy as a herd sire. We are downsizing our breeding operation and he deserves more mares than we have to offer him at this time. If you're building or expanding a program, Mason is the kind of stallion that will add value, quality, and consistency to your breeding goals.
