Bakery friends,
Remember the fundraiser I did for my friend with renal cell carcinoma last month?
Here is an update from her husband. Please, those of you who pray, pray for them!
Her surgery is in less than an hour. The surgery I had last fall was similar, in that it required a vertical abdominal incision, which is harder to recover from than horizontal incisions. My surgery was considered major, hers is so, so much MORE major! Due to blood loss and other health factors I recovered very slowly. Cherie is starting out low because of the tumor causing bleeding. This is a good, good thing she's having surgery this morning but it's going to be very hard on her, and she'll have a newborn to care for immediately after! I literally couldn't hold my phone for more than a minute or so at a time after my surgery. Pray that will not be Cherie's experience, but that God will give her body supernatural strength to recover quickly, and stay strong!
FROM ADAM:
"Thank you dearly, everyone, for your prayers. It is a great comfort and encouragement to Cherie and me, and we know God loves to hear the prayers of His people and to respond kindly to His children. Cherie is scheduled for a c-section and nephrectomy tomorrow morning at 7:30. The doctors believe that the significant escalation of her symptoms requires quick action.
Please keep her in your prayers. A kidney removal alone is a major surgery, but the combination of a c-section followed by the nephrectomy means that they will perform a very large incision vertically up her abdomen that will allow access for both surgeries. Additionally, Cherie was already low on blood and needed two transfusions as well as plasma to be ready for tomorrow.
Pray for safety during the surgery, and for minimal blood loss. Pray that Cherie would recover well after surgery, and that her pain would be managed well during the long healing process. Pray for complete removal of all cancer and for no return. Please also pray for Nightingale's safety and for excellent health and growth during her weeks to come in the NICU.
Thank you all."
