🔥 Heatwave Alert for Pet Parents! 🔥
With temperatures soaring this week, it's crucial to protect our furry friends from the dangers of heatstroke. A few minutes in high temperatures can be deadly for pets, even in the shade or with water available.

Here are some vital tips to keep your pets safe:

- Never leave your pet in a parked car. Temperatures inside a vehicle can skyrocket in minutes, even with windows cracked, leading to fatal heatstroke.
- Limit outdoor exercise. Walk dogs during the coolest parts of the day (early morning or late evening). Avoid midday walks entirely.
- Provide plenty of fresh water. Ensure your pets have constant access to cool, clean water, both indoors and out.
- Offer shade and cool spots. If your pet is outside, make sure they have ample shade. Consider bringing outdoor pets inside during peak heat.
- Protect paws from hot surfaces. Asphalt and pavement can reach scorching temperatures, burning your pet's paw pads. If it's too hot for your bare hand, it's too hot for their paws.
- Know the signs of heatstroke. Watch for excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or wobbly movements. If you suspect heatstroke, get your pet to a vet immediately.

📢 URGENT PSA FOR PET PARENTS! 🚗🔥

Even on a mild day, the temperature inside your car can skyrocket to dangerous levels in just minutes. It's a silent, deadly oven for your furry friend!

Here's why leaving your dog in the car, even "just for a minute," is incredibly dangerous:

Rapid Heat Build-Up: A car's interior can heat up by 20 degrees Fahrenheit in just 10 minutes! In an hour, it can be 40-50 degrees hotter than the outside temperature. Cracking a window does virtually nothing to prevent this.
Heatstroke is a Real Threat: Dogs don't sweat like humans; they cool down primarily by panting. In a hot car, panting isn't enough, and they can quickly suffer from heatstroke, leading to organ damage, brain damage, or even death.
No "Safe" Temperature: Even on a 70°F day, the inside of a car can reach 110°F in less than an hour. There's no outdoor temperature that makes it truly safe to leave your dog unattended in a vehicle.
Signs of Distress: Look for heavy panting, glazed eyes, a rapid pulse, unsteadiness, vomiting, or a deep red/purple tongue. If you see these signs, act immediately!
Your dog relies on you to keep them safe. If your errand isn't pet-friendly, please leave your beloved companion at home where they'll be cool and comfortable.

If you see a dog in distress in a hot car, call animal control or your local emergency services immediately. You could save a life.
