For years we have been rescuing, rehabbing, and retiring off-track thoroughbreds. Some we have been asked to take and ... believe it or not ... some we have actually asked for! In the past, as a backyard horse farm, we have assisted in acquiring and claiming horses directly from the track and several of them are currently at Old Friends in Kentucky enjoying their retirement! Our biggest accomplish

ment has been becoming the caretaker of "Champ" AKA "Shinhopple! Champ was rescued from a kill auction in 2011. Champ crossed the rainbow bridge, November of 2024, at the age of 32. Having this 501(c)3 will help us continue to assist where we can with OTTBs and ensure they and the horses already at Packard Meadows have a forever home!

“Ice T”! What a gentle soul. We brought him here from Puerto Rico in December of 2016. It took him a few years to understand that his racing days were over. He’s one of our therapy horses now & has the perfect temperament for that job!

“Sage” is the sweetheart of the barn! She had a rough start to life. Somehow her withers were fractured before she was able to race. A few years later, we got a request to take her or she would be euthanized. Of course we hitched the rig & brought her here! She now has her own family who love & adore her & allow her to be a “ground worker”!

Oh “Benjamin Pierre Tomas Clarke”! This boy was retired in 2016 & joined us! He brought Clarke Racing into our lives along with Pierre Tomas & Jose Baez! He has figured us out & it’s annoying! Don’t wanna go out .. he limps! Don’t wanna work .. he limps! Works every time!

“Billy” had been boarding here for a few years! He needed some help when he got here, through no fault of his family. He was incredible in the show ring & is retired now & doing Animal Assisted Therapy with Michelle Hunt!

Thought I would introduce you to a few of our residents!

“Pecchi” boarded here for about 6 months years ago! When his Mom was looking for a semi-retirement home for him I BEGGED to bring him back here!! I think I signed a 10 year lease! Since then he’s been a champion in the ring & was Reserve Champion In a local show series!

Last night the most challenging horse we have ever had, crossed Rainbow Bridge. Oliver was a thin, scared boy we were lucky enough to adopt from a rescue in Mt. Joy, PA.
They purchased him from one of Moore ‘s sales. He really needed a forever home that would keep him happy & healthy & maybe ever teach him that he was loved. We stepped up, named him “Oliver” based on a picture & contacted a few of our supporters to help us get him from Maryland to Western New York.
It just dawned on me. It’s exactly what we did with Champ!! We took Champ, kept our promise to take care of him & named him from a picture!
We thought we would have Oliver for 6 months. We were so lucky! 2 1/2 years with this handsome man! As he was getting older he was having trouble getting up so we knew his time was coming.
Last night at 6:03pm Oliver gained his wings with his 5 favorite humans at his side. We miss you already Ollie ❤️
